My two sons, ages 4 and 1, love the CD. They love to dance, march, and jump to these upbeat classical favorites. It is a great way to have kids burn energy while working the body and mind. Occasionally I point out the different instruments, loudness, speed of the music, name of the piece, composer etc. It is nice to have all of these favorites compiled on one CD. The CD is 67 minutes long so I start the CD at a different spot each time. The title is misleading, I think it should read "Good Music for Little Guys and Girls"!

Dolby Surround - Surround Spectacular - The Music / The Tests
I am happy with the product and was also happy with the delivery time.

I find the "Baby needs Mozart" record to be an excellent entertainment both for babies and their parents. Mozart's music helps you relax and keep your mind at ease in a stressing environment.

This is a truly mindblowing CD. The emotions I felt when I was listening to this were incredible. Christian Lindberg is one of the finest musicians ever. I am making it a point to try to own a copy of every recording he has ever made. The actual music selections are incredible. These composers truly do not get the recognition they should. America should be proud of composers that could write such amazing music. This an EXCELLENT CD. If you love trombone, or music in general, this is the CD to have.

Imai shines in the Rhapsodie for Viola and Orchestra. She has thought out the phrasing very musically and technically is very secure besides one or two glitches. She could use a better orchestra though. There is more than one spot that the orchestra could give more emphasis to the music. Overall though this is a pretty good recording of the Rhapsodie-Concerto. I reccomend it.

One of the joys of reviewing lots of classical CDs is the discovery of excellent music by composers one never heard of. That's the case here. Tomas Svoboda (b. 1939) was born in Paris of Czech parents, spent his early childhood in Boston, but returned to Czechoslovakia with his parents after the War and was admitted to the Prague Conservatory in 1954. He returned to the US in 1964, studied with Halsey Stevens and Ingolf Dahl at USC and for many years has been professor of composition at the Portland State University, retiring in the late 1990s. It is fitting that this program of his orchestral music is played by the Oregon Symphony under its long-time conductor, James DePreist. And brilliantly played it is.

In 2002 I have noticed conductors such as James Priest come up again. The person who sells me an Arvo Part has the same e-mail earthlink as the one who buys a Satie. Aulis Sallinen on second listen really strikes me as striking, rhythmic, and satisfying. Symphony 4 uses horns, drums, and all symphonic instruments in a very pleasant work. Symphony No. 4, "Washington Mosaics", is supposed to be darker. After slipping on the steps, having a guy take a book I wrote without paying, and having my computer crack-up, I decided to enjoy Sallinen. He is just a little older than me, as is DePriest. All of us music lovers are joined by what we hear and write about in our appreciation.
