I've always been unbelivably impressed by this artist. I don't think anyone would be disappointed by the purchase of this CD. My heart just melts listening to his version of "Ice Cream". I have to admit that "Gently Weeps" is still my all time favorite song and CD.

Excellent music, brings back memories of the Islands. Jake Shimabukuro is very talented! I recommend this to anyone who has a love for the Hawaiian islands and/or talent in general --well worth it!

I really missed Jake's marvelous finger work and usual enthusiastic arrangements. This album was rather dissapointing. I loved his first two!

He's got the skills, I can tell you that! He is amazing on the Ukelele and the music is pretty good and impressive! But it's not much of a "I will listen to it all the time" music, it's not like Jazz in a way as in you can just keep it in the background... some of the songs are very plesant but some are hampered by the fact that his skills put the Uke into some interesting note arrangements that, at least to me, aren't as easy listening as I had hoped. Also, no lyrics, so it's all instrumental.

I'll give Jake 5+ stars for skills, and his music is excellent, but for what many people will buy it for (easy background) listening, it's more of a 4 star album.

Dragon

He is wonderful! It is a very cool cd that I highly recommend. Jake is an amazing musician. I saw him one night on Conan and was hooked after that. I was blown away when I went to a Jimmy Buffett and saw him as part of the band.

Jake is like the (insert your favorite guitar hero here) of the ukulele. I love the carefree sound of the uke anyway but Jake makes it sound ways I was never aware it could. I love the jazz renditions as well as all of the other styles offered. A nice, relaxing cd.

On a separate note, it amazes me that people are surprised what this CD contained and complain about it being instrumental or jazzy. Did you not read the editorial review or more importantly take advantage of the SAMPLES provided to you BEFORE you bought it? Hard to say it wasn't what you expected when you can hear 30 seconds to at least get an idea.
