Liked the CD, but no where near as much as Solo Acoutic 1. Browne is great solo, a thing not many can do. Just not many songs I really really liked, and Browne does have many great songs to chose from.
Release Date October 25, 1990
Great Album from a great artist. Highlights include The Title Track , "Rosie " , " Nothin' But Time " , " The Load Out / Stay ", " Love Needs a Heart " and " Cocaine " . I reccommend the DVD Audio version if you have a player . It features 2 Bonus tracks , " Cocaine Revisited " and an instrumental . Nice CD to pop in when taking a road trip . Not a weak track on it.

I've purchased this album several times. I had it in cassette, and an LP and now in CD. Jackson Browne is an incredible lyricist and musician. He really puts songs together in a very accessible and talented way.

Listening to this album brings back those long lost days of youth and, like a fine wine, leaves a silky, if somewhat bittersweet, finish on my memory's tastebuds.
I remember seeing JB in Champaign in 1978...the Running On Empty tour. I'd been listening to him and buying every album since Saturate Before Using was released, but it seemed it took the popularity of ROE and The Pretender to open my friends' ears to the talent of this troubador. I've always marvelled at the poetry as well as the music on his first 4 albums.
JB has always been very political, but it was more tender, ironical and subtle on his early albums. I may not have always agreed with his politics, but I've always loved and admired his ability to put it into words the ... Read More:

I don't know how Wes Anderson does it, but he does it well. The music on this soundtrack is so diverse, but like in the movie, it just works incredibly well for whatever reason. If you have a decent taste in music, chances are you will enjoy ever twist and turn of this album.

Musically, this is mostly more of the same monotonous soft-rock, but it's a cut above standard Jackson fare off the strength of two of his finest songs: "Here Come Those Tears Again", a mature look at the typical "come-and-go" relationship (though it's sadly doused in sappy country backup vocals), and particularly the title track, a cynical attack on suburban values that I think is my favorite of Jackson's songs. "Your Bright Baby Blues" also could've fit with these songs if it weren't so longwinded. And there are a couple songs that move beyond the soft-rock: while "Linda Paloma" is an awful flamenco song dominated by harpsichord, I like the fusion of hard-rock guitar and horns found on "Daddy's Tune". And even the typical soft-rock tracks are at least modestly engaging ... Read More:

So Jackson, who was clearly listening to a lot of Bob Dylan records at the time, decided he wanted to be like a certain critically acclaimed, commercially successful living legend/cynical street poet with a really bad voice - only with a considerably better voice (technically speaking, anyway) and soft-rock instrumentation. Really, he only blew it on one count. Too bad that count was he didn't have the talent of Dylan's elbow. He tackles weighty topics - depression, suicide, drug addiction, apocalypse - but he doesn't say anything too revealing about any of them, and we wind up with several spare piano and acoustic guitar ballads that are lifeless and unoriginal, if earnest ("For Adam", "My Opening Farewell", "A Child in These Hills", et al). But he doe nail a couple of these: ... Read More:

I ordered this cd to replace my old LP record. I've always been a fan of Jackson Browne and this was one of my favorite albums. As I listen to this cd, it brings back precious memories of my youth..the good ol days. You will not be diappointed.
