Ok I bought this cd for Somewhere over the Rainbow. It is the only tune I like on the album so I didnt want to give it 1 star. But if i rated by # of songs I actually listen to it would have gotten only a 1.

But somewhere over the rainbow is one of the best tunes I think I have ever heard. I love it.

I was just looking for some background music for a birthday luau, but discovered a wonderful musical artist. We totally enjoy listening to Iz's music anytime. True Hawaiian music that brings the island atmosphere into our home whenever we want to escape to paradise.

I love this man's voice! Great command of instrument. Good sense of humor and love of ancestry evident in interpretation of lyrics. Aged so well. Represents the best of interpretive music. Izrael was being played everywhere I went while in Hawaii.

Heard a song on the radio and had to have the CD. Did a search on Amazon, of course they had it, and placed the order. Before I knew it, it was in my mailbox and the CD was wonderful the hear. It made me want to go to the islands.

Hank's Place, that was the setting for this recording, was a modest local hangout in Kaimuki with a minimal stage set up. Electronic technology has come a long way in the past 30 years! So, When you really think about it, the world is just so lucky to have a recording that is so good!

A previous review mentions that the album reflects racial/cultural issues still alive in Hawaii. We don't know of any translation for the word (haoli)! We think what the reviewer is referencing is the word HAOLE that is sung about in the Lai Toodle song.

Haole, (pronounced: How-leh) in the Hawaiian language, means "foreign" or "foreigner"; it can be used in reference to people, plants, and animals. The origins of the word predate the 1778 ... Read More:
