Tales from the Beach

Well this offering starts of strong but has a few slow moments particularly the ballads were hard to get into. I had been recommended this from Amazon although I really have not been following this group consistently. I am familiar with some of their popular tunes. I agree with the reviewer who stated more instruments/instrumentals would have made the CD more lively. Step Aside really got the joint of to a good start.

A fine album. This carries the definitive vocalisation of Ronnie Laws' "always there", the uplifting classic "Still a friend of mine", hard popping acid jazz standards "everyday" and "Nights over Egypt".
Maysa's scatting on the wonderful "colibri" would make this a buy on its own, but her delivery on the blue soul "deep water" is absolutely crushing. This is an album i want to be buried with, just in case the egyptians are right and I can take it into the afterlife.

Incognito really brings it on this album, man. 9/13 tracks hits a classic with me!!!! This is really for the 21 & up crowd that appreciates REAL MUSIC, Period!!!!!!!! My 3 favorite tracks are:

#2-Good Love--Joy Malcolm rips this tune apart!!! Bluey makes this song classic!!!

#8-Spellbound and Speechless--What can I say??? A real R&B song with funky, upbeat sounds.

#11-Millennium--Bluey lays down a smooth jazz track with a litte sax on the side

I love this album to death!!! No disrespect to Maysa, a true vocalist by herself, but Joy Malcolm gives her a run for her money. But overall, a classic album indeed!!!!

No Time Like the Future

Incognito's album "NO TIME LIKE THE FUTURE" is one of those albums that draws in the listener the moment that he or she begins listening to it, especially if one happens to be a fan of this particular genre of music, or this band, or both. (I'm in the "both" category.) Although this album contains only 10 tracks, quite a number of them are can certainly be classified as ear candy, and others are quite a treat if one is going out or shopping. For instance, we have:

Track 1: "Wild and Peaceful"
General comments: the title pretty much sums up the song title as well as the album as a whole

Track 2: "Get Into My Groove"
General comments: worth repeat earfuls; awesome, top-notch vocals

Beneath the Surface

I bought this on the strength of the reviews, but I'm not happy. The bass is dominant throughout the entire cd, sometimes even pushing vocals to the background. I know some people really like a strong bass mix, but if you like more balance, you won't like this.

If you like smooth vocals, a busy horn section and some FUNK, then you will like CD from Incognito. It seems as though they have added more vocals than usual to this CD but for the most part I enjoyed all of them. This group has a way of making jazz funky and I tapped my foot all day long while driving a short road trip. A great listen.
