This is the first Courtney Love led band album I have purchased and I shall be coming back for more. Album begins with rock anthem Celebrity Skin, and varies between melodic rhythms such as Heaven Tonight and rocking beats. The lyrics sway between strong emotions such as anger and relief at survival, it gives one hope that no matter how bad a situation is things will always improve eventually. Its contagious. Highly recommend it.

My first introduction to ZH was through their "when you were shouting..." video, I was instantly hooked by the powerful attack of Gene Hoglan's drums, the ripping guitar sound of Jed Simon's Guitar, the Killer bass playing from Byron Stroud, and the vocals. Good lord, the vocals on this album simply rock anything you've ever heard before. "The Heathen" has got to be the best vocalist I have ever heard in my life. He can go from King Diamond falsetto to Corpsegrinder Gutteral growls and everything in between in the course of one song.
The vocals are not the only highlight, the whole album in chock full of catchy riffs powerful fills, and great bass work. Not to mention laugh your way through while headbanging with it.

Ask for It is an EP by grunge rock band Hole. Of course the wonderful band isn't together anymore, we still have their great music to look back on. It's hard to critique this album since it's mainly b-sides. Drown Soda and Pale Blue Eyes are excellent songs and you get demo versions of Violet and Doll Parts but this cd is just ok, nothing special. I recommend Hole's Live Through This or Celebrity Skin instead.

While I can't have enough listening of "Outside Looking In's", its author, the Australian Dave Hole, again has made a superb album. This "Rough Diamond" is really great rocking blues. You'll find there one of this year's best Blues sessions, enriched with Hole's particular way of playing slide guitar. All the songs have a similar high level but "White Trash Girl", "Rough Diamond", "Rambling On My Mind" and specially "King Bee" are the best ones, without forgetting the ballad "Yours for a song".
The superb blues called "King Bee" in this record is played elsewhere as "I'm a king bee". Hole's cover is perhaps the best, together with The Rolling Stones' and Muddy Waters' covers and of course the original by Slim Harpo.Highly recommended. I give it 5 stars. ... Read More:

Hole's My Body, The Hand Grenade is truly an unique album of sorts. Not sure how to describe this record, this disc features some of Hole's early recordings such as Turpentine, Phonebill Song, Retard Girl and many more. I prefer their later sound such as the albums Live Through This and Celebrity Skin. The debut album, Pretty on the Inside is not one of my favorites from their career so some of the pre-Live Through This tracks sure as hell don't blow me away. The songs I do enjoy on My Body include: Season of the Witch, He Hit Me (It felt like a Kiss), Beautiful Son, 20 Years in the Dakota, Softer Softest (Live), and the gorgeous and non-screaming anthem, Old Age. Courtney's vocals shine on Old Age, of course I have heard this song was orginally a Kurt Cobain throw ... Read More:

I first bought Dave Hole "THE LIVE ONE". LOVED IT! So I
couldn't wait to hear some more. Well this was my 2nd choice.
All I can say is, it's a good thing he can play such good slide
cause he sure can't sing, and it sounds to country, and I HATE
COUNTRY MUSIC! SO, if you've not heard any of his music, don't
waste anymore time, and get "THE LIVE ONE". IT ROCKS!!

This cd has multiple personality disorder. Played at normal, quiet levels, it is a good, but not superb recording featuring lots of good slide guitar work from what sounds like an interesting, innovative guitarist.
Turn up the volume loud, and the brilliance of Hole's playing really starts to shine through. There is a subtle resonance that is simultaneously sweet and sour that shines through at higher volume levels. The two best tracks on this cd are Jenny Lee (appears on Alligator's 30th Anniversary CD - a very good collection by the way) and an excellent version of BB King and Canned Heat's You Move Me So.
If Hole is touring within a two-day drive of your home, go see him live (unfortunately, he is presently finishing up his US tour and will ... Read More:
