My record player broke a few years ago and I really missed playing all my Tijuana Brass albums. This CD fixes the problem. I just wish it had better cover art. I love the photos and fonts on the old albums.
Up until this 6th album from the TJB in May, 1966, the music was a collection of pieces providing good listening, but lacked the themematic quality of this album.
The TJB took the music world "by storm" from 1962 through 1969, with listeners still enjoying the music today. It took quite some talent to go head-to-head with the popularity of Elvis, Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, among others, yet the TJB did it and did it with almost unbelievable success and popularity. It got to the point that Herb Alpert had to settle on a fixture of musicians for the touring, rather than rotating various musicians for the studio albums. Once that was settled, the music became more settled too. Hits continued to follow hits, over 40 on the top 10 during ... Read More:

This is one of the greatest albums ever. Herb Alpert was one of the few that could compete with the intense popularity of the Beatles and Stones back in the ERA-I highly recommend all the original A&M reissues-they are all great and sound amazing. This album is my favorite-seriously-I listen to this album every morning! A great way to start out!

This album started America's love for Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.Listen, think back to the 60's,feel the joy that comes with the first strains of ,"The Lonely Bull".If you even like Herb Alpert a little, you have to own this.
Reading the other reviews listed here it is interesting to see what other listeners find of interest in not only the TJB but the product Alpert put in the market place.
For six musicians other than Herb, it is remarkable any albums were made let alone be as successful as they were and are. Herb explains that he never recorded any song unless it 'moved' him, never were the songs ever written down, never were the songs played prior to being recorded; in fact he mentions renting the studio 3 hours for one song, yet being finished in 20 minutes! The entire TJB career is beyond remarkable almost improbable.
Returning from military service, entering college, the TJB took me by storm and now in my mid-sixties, still enjoy listening ... Read More:

Spanish Flea is the feel-good song of the millennium. We dance to it at work when we meet deadline or just when we need a little pick-me-up to get us through the night. If I had to pick a song to play at my wedding, it would be Spanish Flea by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.

I LOVE it! I had heard one of the songs, Sleigh Ride, on the local radio station and decided to look it up. I only wish I could have gotten the album before Christmas so I could have listened to it more. Most of the songs are instrumentals and are easy to listen to while working or relaxing. It is going on my shelf with my other Christmas favorites: Manheim Steamroller Christmas, Fresh Aire, and Joyfull Stings.
