If you enjoyed the movie, the CD is awesome! All the tunes bring back that silly happy feeling you had while watching the movie. My children especially love it and I am excited that they have the exposure to theatrical show tunes!

The first time I saw Kristin Chenoweth in a movie was the TV "Music Man". Just lately I listened to the "Wicked" soundtrack, and after that, I've been listening to Kristin's CDs whenever I can. This one is a jazzy, Broadway-type CD with fun, engaging songs. She's a different type of singer, and while not everyone might enjoy her voice, I really do. If you like Broadway, jazz, drama, romance, or just fun, catchy songs, this is a CD for you.

This C-D contains remastered music from many of the
best musicals I remember from my youth. The only
thing I miss is the video because at times there is
only the sound of tapdancing.
I enjoy singing along with the music while driving
my car. Just as good as singing in the shower!

If you like 42nd Street, you'll love this recording. If you're not familiar with the music, listen to some clips. You get what you hear.

I know that this is a very popular film, but I never understood why. To me this tale of infidelity and ethnic caricatures, borders on offensive! I would love to see how people would react if African American families were handled the same way. Yeah, I can see it now everyone in the film is picking cotton, eating fried chicken, watermelon and talking with a speech impediment! Or maybe Asian families with everyone running laundry up and down the street with a rickshaw and.......... talking with a speech impediment!
Please don't start hitting me with hate comments, I am not a bigot, but I like equality for all people and the Italian's are taking it pretty hard in "this-a dull-a un-a-romantic comedy". There are a few good scenes scattered through ... Read More:

Of course there should have been much more. I remember there been a Metropolian Opera series called CAST ALBUMS- 100 YEARS that was put out for a limited time only and had like five volumes.
As Peter Filichia noted they left out SHE LOVES ME, BRIGADOON and SWEENEY TODD. Also nothing from PACIFIC OVERTURES, BIG RIVER, CHESS, CRAZY FOR YOU, JEKYLL & HYDE, TITANIC, THE SCARLET
PIMPERNEL, FOOTLOOSE- THE MUSICAL, THE FULL MONTY, URINTOWN...
But they couldn't have put it all. I would have done without Lee Remick's
"Anyone Can Whistle", because the show was a flop. I guess because it was Sondheim's first "serious" show...

When I first saw this being advertised, I was hoping they had gone back to the original master film recording tapes, and remixed a true and complete recording of this wonderful score, much as Turner/MGM and Rhino records has done with veritably every major film musical that MGM produced from the Wizard of Oz through Gigi. Alas such was not the case. This is just the same flat monophonic undigitalized record that Columbia records has been passing off as a soundtrack since they first released it as a 10" 33RPM LP in 1953. It is a real pity too. This is one of the few original film scores that compares with the best of the great Broadway scores of the same period. This atrocious recording has been available with a truncated PAJAMA GAME soundtrack on records ... Read More:

I really like Broadway music so this is the BEST!!!!!!
I let someone else borrow this to listen at her house--She liked it also
Release Date June 12, 2001
I originally bought this simply because it featured the then down-and-out and now (after "Grey Gardens") legendary Christine Ebersole as faded diva Dorothy Brock. Better casting I could not imagine - and she proves it in her every appearance on this recording. Sadly that's not often.
This cast recording belongs to its ensemble, a brilliant crew of performers who shine in every number. Though this is a cast heavy show with a long line-up of leads and featured players, no one performer dominates this cast recording. You will be astonished at how many numbers credit the participation of the "ensemble" or the "full company". But it has to be said the result is a long line up of soaring numbers that more than live up to the potential of these famous songs.

As others have said, it's a pity we don't get to hear more scores from the man who, along with John Williams, is probably most responsible for turning people on to the art of film scoring. How many millions of people have walked out of a Bond film, Dances With Wolves, Somwehere In Time, Zulu, or any of countless other films, having been swept away by the music and rushed out to get the album?
Barry is among the most important, influential and, most of all, accessible film composers of all time. His combination of achingly romantic tunes, orchestrated with a crisp, sweeping sound that is unmistakable, is always a joy to listen to, even when the scores are to movies that don't deserve them.
In a world where each new blockbuster score sounds exactly like ... Read More:
