I was a great fan of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe score, so was very much looking forward to this release. Unfortunately, i'm pretty disappointed.
One of the reasons I enjoyed the original score so much was for it's calm, celtic-like melodies in the first half or so of the score. This score has a similar layout, but it focuses a lot more on the battle/action tracks, which i'm not particularly fond of.
I can completely understand why this is the case, as the film is a lot darker than the first and i've heard it contains a lot more action. This would be great if these tracks weren't so repetitive, sounding like the typical Media Ventures action cues we've heard so many times before. And even by the half way point these tracks ... If you are a director or producer or an important person looking for someone to create the music for your movie project, I have found the man! Harry Gregson-Williams is definatey someone you should check into! He did an excellent job on "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" and "Prince Caspian" scores. But this collection has to be my favorite!
-"The Blitz, 1940" shows just how much that war affected people's lives and their children. When I listen to that song, in my mind I can see people sitting around a table arguing and then all of a sudden a war breaks out and tension builds and it ends up affecting people. And it added great drama to the beginning portion of the movie.

I'm what some might call a 'casual critic' of movie scores. In almost every case with the collection I have at present, I have sat in the theater or at home watching a film completely unaware of who has made the music behind the scenes and events that I'm seeing. All that drives me to buy a score is a small piece of music that's catchy or interesting, and then it's on the web for some previews before I commit to ordering.

In the case of watching 'The Rock' every bit of music I heard was something I'd like to hear again, the movie itself is no longer in my dvd movie collection but the score has stuck with me to this day and remains one of my favorites.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots

Although quite expensive for a soundtrack, I decided to buy this anyway. And luckily, I wasn't disappointed. Two cds of high quality music. The music being as dramatic as the game itself.

But I don't think this kind of music is for everybody. You have to like this sneaking -kind of music to really appreciate this soundtrack.

The music itself is influenced by couple of Hollywood movies. For example, if you liked soundtrack from gladiator, you will like the "love theme". If you liked the guitar playing from "The Man on Fire" -soundtrack, you'll also like "Old Snake" track.

I recommend this to all MGS fans. You can live the atmosphere of MGS4 while being away from your PS3:)

The first and last song are the best on the album. Allot of Muzak. Done in good taste not my thing. Missing Blue Bayou from Linda ronstadt from the Movie. That would have made the album better. I like the First song and you can;t get it as a single.

Most often I don't write reviews but this sound track is so tender and special to us after seeing the movie of the same name that I decided to add my 2 cents.My husband who is new to singing and guiter playing has learned to play and sing it in the gaelic version. This took a lot of playing over and over and over and despite that I still love One More Day.

i love this soundtrack. it has a bunch of my fav songs from the metal gear universe. " old snake" is may fav. worth every penny i spent on this , trust me you will be satisfied.
