C'mon without Tracii Guns this album would have never been possible..."Sound never repeated" Get an L.A. Guns C.D. Moron! Why doesn't anyone wonder why Axl was never able to duplicate this success, and why he always relied on cover tunes? BECAUSE TRACII WASN'T THERE TO WRITE THE MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also why Axl is sitting on his rich fat butt and Tracii is still rockin' out with legends like Nikki Sixx! Because Axl was a no talent hack! Tracii Guns Rocks Axl was, is, and always will be a wannabe!

Coming out at the same time as Use Your Illusion I in one of the biggest days in metal history this album contains a swathe of hard rock and metallic styles. For my mind part one is the more metallic and this the more maudlin of the dynamic duo. But as I said it has a range of styles like Civil War which is the sort of thing that a band with expanding horizons would do, numbers like the visceral Get In The Ring, the bouncy though metallic Shotgun Blues and Breakdown (a personal fave) and sicker more cerebral stuff like the sneering disdain in Pretty Tied Up. We also get an industrial sicko in the brief My World which speaks to a certain doom obsessed juvenile brain wave but is certainly no less valid for that.

Yep, the full five stars here and I'll tell you why;
One reason is that this work feels optimistic, even when it's addressing pretty dour issues, it's an expansive work by a band that worked hard with their production team and developed their sound further than they'd had the opportunity to on their debut. They sold a squillion of these things at the time and the way the album works on a number of levels is part of the reason why. One level is the pure molten metal songs like Don't Damn Me and Dead Horse and Garden of Eden which show that when the faux nastiness is left behind and a genuine feeling of unclean sneer is available then you will connect with people. It shows how metal can make you think and can at times open up some unpleasant ... Read More:

"Good boys don't make rock'n'roll. Bad boys do."
Guys, this album can't even be called rock. It's just very bad quality smooth pop, that was SO unfortunate to put out "One in a Million" (which only makes it worse).
There a lot of GREAT rock albums out there. So, do yourself a favor and pass this record.

Guns N' Roses-Live:Era '87-'93 *****
Depending on where you find it Live:Era can run you a pretty penny. Well it is worth the price of admission. As the title suggest it takes performances from all around the globe from 1987 through 1993 when the band was on their Lose Your Illusions tour.
Slash, Izzy, and on a few tracks Gilby Clark play some killer guitar. Extended solos in some places and some all around impressive work always. Duff holds is own with Steven Adler and sometimes Matt Sorum. Axl's voice sounds pretty good through out and his interaction with the crowds is wonderful.
'Welcome To The Jungle' is done fantastic. The intro is classic. 'Dust N' Bones' kicks; Izzy dominates here. The fact that they didn't leave ... Read More:

I was let down by this albulm. I have liked all the GNR albulms but this one has been played the least. There a couple good songs but it is not one I can pop in a listen to all the way through. If you are collecting all their work I would put this towards the bottm of the list.

Did you know these guys copied the main guitar riff from the Black Sabbath song "Zero the Hero" and used it for "Paradise City?" Don't believe me? Just buy Sabbath's Born Again album and read the inside notes. All the information you need to know is mentioned right there in the notes. The other two hits by Guns N' Roses are just overplayed, unmemorable rock songs that seriously copied what Aerosmith was doing back in the mid 70's with the dirty, speedy rock sound. I don't sense a hint of originality anywhere. I don't sense any good music anywhere on the Appetite for Destruction album either. So why is it so popular? It's not a classic by any stretch of the imagination.
