I bought this because of Jason Danieley. "I Miss The Music" gives me goosebumps and brings me to tears - every time. The CD was worth it for that song alone.

I had the original soundtrack on an album years ago and I remembered how much I loved to sing along with it. I decided to get the CD and despite the many years since listening to it originally, I still remember the words and find it is still wonderfully upbeat and fun. I am so glad I picked it up again!!

Get a group of baby boomers together and ask each what vinyl album he or she played to near extinction. Did I hear you say the Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band?" Your "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack?" Simon and Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water?" In my case, I wore out my "Cabaret (Original Broadway Cast)" with the bright yellow album cover.

I cannot tell you how many hot tears fell upon that spinning black disc, how many times I sang the title song at the top of my lungs "alone in my room" along with Jill Haworth as Sally Bowles, a wondrous affirmation of life. Every scratch on that vinyl is like a groove on my heart.

"Life is a cabaret..." Indeed it is my friends, and no horrifyingly beautiful music can tell it quite like the Cabaret itself. This musical is nothing but beautiful ballads, and that is what I love. While the original Broadway cast comes with five additional songs, they are just songs from the show, sung by someone else with bad quality. This recording actually comes with "Maybe This Time" which is not on the original cast, and it is one of my favorite songs! The major difference between old and new casts is the evilness of the emcee. In this recording Alan Cumming is sinister and almost sadistic in his portrayal of the emcee, while in the Original Grey takes a much milder tone with the character. A great classic, no doubt about it. Most of the songs are wonderful and very catchy. Be careful because there are three versions (a revival and the movie soundtrack); however, this is the classical one and the very best. The movie version left out the song CLASS, which is one of tne most beautiful ones and, obviously, is not in the movie soundtrack.
A real MUST for musical collectors.

The Happy Time (1968 Original Broadway Cast)

Happy Time is a happy musical with interesting characters and lots of hummable tunes. It is Robert Goulet in a very different type of role. A surprisingly good job by David Wayne as an old man. Typical K&E without the "raunch" and with a number of songs in "fugue" style. No bad language and no hard beat like moderen musicals. Fun to listrn to.

Some of the finest compositions by John Kander and Fred Ebb are put together in this musical revue that celebrates their music. All the songs are great, and the interpretations are first rate. Sorry, Liza (Minelli):recognizing you're one of my favourite singers - "Colored Lights", in the voice of Karen Mason here, is more accomplished than your version in THE RINK. The moving "Isn't this Better" Trio is simply unforgeatable. Get this one without hesitation, you'll love it, specially if you are a Kander and Ebb fan.

The Manuel Puig novel becomes a stunning musical experience in the hands of Kander & Webb, the same creators of CABARET, CHICAGO, ZORBA, THE RINK or 70, GIRLS, 70. I saw this production in 1994 and I was amazed at the visual effects and musical numbers. However, the most fascinating attraction was the originality of the story. it seems so difficult to come out with a musical approaching such a subject, but this musical succeeds entirely. The songs are as marvelous as the interpreters, being one of those musicals that become an ever lasting experience.

This show is AMAZING! Kander & Ebb music (their best) with a book by Terrence McNally! What more could you want... oh, how about Liza & Chita, Jason Alexander of Seinfeld fame singing the beautiful "Marry Me" and so on. This show is AMAZING... I can not stress this enough!!! 2 Female leads, 5 men who play everyone in their lives, including old women! BUY IT, PRODUCE IT, MAKE A MOVIE OUT OF IT... DO SOMETHING!!!
