It is an amazing document of Sinatra in his environment. The sound quality is superior. It is a hall of fame arrangement and performance by Quincy Jones and the Count Basie Orchestra. Even the stage patter is classic. If you can't get the Vegas Box set, get this. If you have the Vegas Box set, get this.

The reason I gave this 3 CD Set 4 stars instead of 5? These recordings
were made before 'Stereo' came along. But, the engineers did a great job
of transfering (Re-mastering?) the songs to CD, and they sound very good.
Seventy-five classics by the greatest crooner of the 20th century.
Interested in 'Sinatra in Stereo'? You might also buy "The Reprise
Collection"-- it's ALL in stereo. Buy both-- you'll be glad you did.

"Sinatra Reprise" focuses on the singer's best work from 1960 to 1979 - combining the integral singles ("Summer Wind," "That's Life" and "My Way") with classic performances of "Fly Me to the Moon," "The Best Is Yet to Come" and "It Was a Very Good Year." Along the way are memorable live versions of "I've Got You Under My Skin" and "The Lady Is a Tramp." Of course, the show-stoppers remain "Luck Be a Lady" and a triumphant "New York, New York." Though no match for the glorious Capitol era, this 20-track Reprise compilation holds up quite nicely.

Aside from a couple "best of" compilations, I never really cared much for Sinatra. I preferred Dean Martin and thought that even Sinatra's hits were OK at best. Then I heard this album, and now I understand why people went crazy for this man. I listened to this on my drive to work, and the sadness stuck with me for the remainder of my shift. This is a masterpiece which should be heard by all music fans, and it does a great job of getting you to want to hear more of what Sinatra has to offer. His singing on this album is perfect, delivering the melancholy in such an effective manner that you want to put your arm around the guy and tell him that everything's gonna turn out alright. The key factor on this album, however, is Nelson Riddle, someone who I never heard ... Read More:

Yep I love Frank, just about anything he has ever done sits well with me BUT, this CD here, well it ranks right at the top. Nelson Riddle and Frank were perfect together. The cooking chemistry between these two was nothing short of brilliant and it all fit perfect in this collection of songs. The two cranked out many albums together in the mid and late 50s, all wonderful in their own way (Moonlight Sinatra is my favorite mid 60's), but this one has to be the at the top. Franks chops were in their prime, the selection of songs and Riddles orchestrations, perfect fit.
With a Riddle/Sinatra song you know right off before the singing starts if Riddle arranged the song. Just the introduction speaks volumes. Don't get me wrong, Billy May can also cook but there is ... Read More:

If you put together 21 songs from Frank Sinatra's years at Capitol, it's hard to go wrong, whether you plan it, or put some CD's in a multi-disc player and hit "random". And when you start with "...Skin", you're headed in the right direction. The "housekeeping" refers to the final track, which was not a single, nor on the original concept LPs. It slipped through the cracks to go on The Sinatra Years set, but here it is. It doesn't get 5 stars from me for a few reasons. First, why are there no Gordon Jenkins arrangements? I don't have a particular track in mind, but his work is certainly as important as Riddle and May. Second, the different take of 'Nice and Easy' doesn't really add anything. My suggestions for unreleased (at least legally) nuggets? How about one of the slightly faster ... Read More:
