This is the next door neighbor complilation of Fleetwood Mac. You borrowed it to play, maybe cassette tape your favorite songs. otherwise you would have bought the essential LPs from which these songs were culled.
Nothin' sweeps across the mid/late '70's like "Don't Stop", "You Make Lovin' Fun", "Dreams", "Go Your Own Way".
This is a wrong-headed swirl of cuts/hits from "Fleetwood Mac" (1975) "Rumours" (1977) "Tusk" (1979) and various so-called rarities. There is no historically true timeline of compostion and no booklet that explains the intrigue of the songs.
The sound is embarrassingly mediocre, the old scratched LPs have a better sense of depth and detail. This CD is for those who pop it in the Toyota ... Read More:

This is a classic album--really the best of Fleetwood Mac. We had it as a record as a kid and it was time for me to own it. A great one!

Fleetwood Mac was one of the most popular bands of all times and this Greatest Hits shows why. Putting it on bought back all of the memories on first hearing the songs. "You Can Go Your Own Way", "Rhiannon" and others you will start humming or singing with right away. Though I was not a big fan when I first heard "Tusk" it is better than I remember and an interesting song. Very good album.

I really wasn't familiar with early Fleetwood Mac but heard that track "Hypnotized" on a deep tracks radio hour.Had to have it & am still looking for time to hear the rest. I haven't had a chance yet for anything but a quick scan thru but it sounds like I'm really liking the sound of the album tracks overall.

By the release of this 1972 record, the mighty Mac had gone through many changes. With their 1971 LP: "Future Games" a new path was taken by these seasoned veterans of music. They had all but abandoned the: 'Heavy' Blues that they were famous for playing, and toned their music down into melodic Folk/Dreamscapes that drifted into new and different places of seashores and wispy breezes. The guitar was as brilliant as ever with Danny Kirwan and American, Bob Welsh's tasty and spooky lead runs.
"Bare Trees" the 1972 Record by Fleetwood Mac is one of their very best from the: "Middle Period" of FM {After Peter Green and before the arrival of Buckingham/Nicks.} There was a problem here, Danny Kirwan, was now the frontman and center of the Group. He was very ... Read More:

The MP3 download here is the first disk only, of two. It does appear to be the remastered version, and the sound is strong and delicate. Missing is disk two's inventive outakes and experiments along with the Beach Boys cover "Farmers Daughter" and the great 7-minute version of "Sara", which on the first disk here is the fine 4:40 edit version. Go beat your drum.

I'm with David W. Darby (see his "Nice compilation, but not complete or flawless" review) on this one. While this set is easily the best single disc compilation of Peter Green-era Fleetwood Mac released to date, hitting nearly all of the highlights with inclusions from several different record labels, it nevertheless still falls ever-so-short of being the perfect set that it could have been. For starters, I would gladly dump the Chicken Shack tune and the re-make of "Albatross" in exchange for "Long Grey Mare," "Show-Biz Blues," and "Love That Burns," which, in my estimation, was the best track on the second album. And "Homework," it could be argued, was the highpoint of the double Blues Jam in Chicago LP, with absolutely smokin' lead guitar from Greeny, yet unfortunately was not included. ... Read More:
