Having listened to this CD I though it was outstanding. As a John William fan myself, I always find his technique absulutely brilliant and some of the tracks on there I haven't heard before, which is a bonus. I have quite a few CD's of him playing solo and together with Julian Bream. Also the group Sky he was with back in the early 1980's. This CD I have to say has got to be the best one yet in my collection of John Williams CD's.

I would recommend this CD to all John Williams fans. All so, this CD is genuine and is not a copy from the real thing, which is nice to know. So at least you know what you are buying is worth it's value for money.

The Most Relaxing Harp Album in the World... Ever!

Animal behaviorists have done some studies showing harp music is good at calming animals, especially cats. My cat was very skittish and unhappy as a result of very loud construction work next door and all other efforts to calm her down had not been totally successful. I got this and she (and I, if you must know) relaxed immediately.
It is a beautiful sounding album. (And the bahaviorists have a point. Cats do seem to hear vibes in harp music we can't. It was like instant prozac for her.)

I love piano music and had been looking for a good one for years. I bought this without knowing much about Erik Satie and I'm very happy. It's a great collection.

After the Rain...The Soft Sounds of Erik Satie

I love everything about this CD but the recording quality. It is noisy for such a quiet piece and the dynamics make it very prone to distortion. At low volume this probably is not that noticeable but if you turn it up at all you get a clear white noise(shhhh or woosh) background noise and as volume on the piano goes up you can get a buzzing distortion. This may not be as bad on various equipment but I did want to warn that this is not the greatest of recordings. It also may be somewhat due to the nature of the music itself but I am looking for a better recording of these fine Satie pieces.

Satie: Piano Works

Ciccolini's recording of Satie's piano music had dominated decades as finest set, but only because there wasn't any rivals at the time. Now compared to other superior recordings, his playing, highly sophisticated, sounds rather conventional and shallow. I get an impression that this pianist regarded Satie's music as some witty light music. I would love complete satie piano works played with more depth and delicacy (Leeuw's earlier recording comes close to ideal, but it was not complete set). Thibaudet's complete recording is very fine, but again without much depth.
