Oh yeah...and I sing along. This is sophisticated country. This CD will please your senses and awaken your imagination. If you think you don't like country music...listen to this one and you'll think again.
Release Date March 23, 1993
Need I say more... ok this is with out a doubt a must have country classic. Dwight cranks out classic after drinking classic. If this album does not inspire you to close down the bar, go home with a stranger then quietly make your escape out the window before they wake up then you basically have no soul and probably don't enjoy music...
Release Date October 25, 1990
I bought this years ago and wore it out in college... obviously you can see from all the reviews this is fabulous... good CD to buy to get a taste of DW. He rocks!!!!!!!!1
Release Date May 30, 2000
I purchased this CD as a replacement for my father, as he had lost his copy. He's not one to listen to music, but this was one CD he raved about. We opened it up so I could see what he was talking about...and I had to listen to the entire CD right then and there! I was very impressed with the entire CD...I would recommend this to anyone!
Release Date April 29, 2008
This was Dwight Yoakam's third major label album. It features seven original songs and four covers of older songs. The album features Dwight's first #1 hit, a cover of Buck Owens' "Streets of Bakersfield", featuring Buck himself, which helped to revive Buck's career. It also features Dwight's second #1 hit, "I Sang Dixie". "I Got You" was a Top Five hit and "Beunas Noches From a Lonely Room" just barely missed being a hit. Overall a very good album, which Dwight's fans will enjoy.
Release Date October 31, 1995
Here's an outstanding Dwight Yoakam CD from the mid-90's. Not a bad song on the disc, which is pretty much par for Dwight. There are two stand-out tracks: "Heart of Stone", a song reminiscent of the early-Nashville sound; and "Dont Be Sad", a true Bakersfield Honky-Tonk ballad if there ever was one. This album, while not as flowing as "This Time" or "Long Way Home", is one of Dwight's deeper works. You have to wonder how he continues to put out such high-quality music yet remain fresh.
Release Date June 09, 1998
A Long Way Home I pretty much like everything Dwight does, so this is a somewhat biased review. If you are also a fan, you will enjoy this CD. I would not recommend this CD, however, if you are looking to purchase your first Dwight Yoakam CD. For a great Dwight introduction, I would suggest "If There Was a Way," "Just Looking for a Hit," or "This Time."
Release Date April 29, 2008
This album features Dwight's wonderful voice, excellent musicianship and production and a nice variety of songs. Best song to me is "It Only Hurts When I Cry," co-written with Roger Miller. I also love everything else except perhaps the last track, "Let's Work Together." That's the only one that's less than stellar for me. The rest are superb, and they make this album a true classic. To me this means most people would like it throughout the years no matter what music they tend to ordinarily listen to. Even if they "hate" country music, they'd have to like this!!
