I'm not sure what must have been going through the minds of the record label when assembling this collection as a sequel to Pure Moods vol. I. Now granted, most of Pure Moods I is actually quite good and enjoy it though I don't think it stacks up to the "Earthtone Collection", "Elevation", or "Buddha Lounge" series nor warranted TV commercials. The second entry in the Pure Moods series is in my opinion, the most uneven and shakiest of the entries for several reasons, several tracks do absolutely nothing for me. "Nightingale" strikes me as meandering classical leftovers from a orchestral outtake. No offense but what on Earth is "Breezin" doing on this collection?! It's not a bad song by any means but it has absolutely no place on here and belongs ... Read More:

I enjoyed this very much. I heard it on the TV and searched it out on Amazon for purchase, I would like to find more of their work.

The aptly named trio known as The Dream Academy were one of those rare convergences of talent (in the creativity-challenged 1980s, no less) that paid off in this, their first effort with a stunning, intricate and intelligent work of art.
To hear this CD for the first time is a treat. Hearing it again and again, and dozens more times after that, peels back seemingly endless layers of melodic intellect that never let the listener grow tired.
This was one of those precious few LPs/CDs I've bought for one song, in this case "Life in a Northern Town," only to discover that it's just the opening act in a treasure chest of music that massages the imagination.
This CD will wow you, big time. Choice quality stuff here. ... Read More:

I own several CDs in this series and this one, unfortunately is the one that comes off the shelf the least. Even since loading the contents up MP3 style into my computer and iPod only a few get played. Only a select few truly sound like the alternative radio I grew up with in the 80s.
Release Date September 04, 1997
There's no denying the arty pop brilliance of "Life in a Northern Town," the group's smash hit from their inaugural album. But unfortunately such early success seemed to have doomed this promising group by forcing them to live up to the expectations generated by nascent stardom. This sophomore effort is consequently limpid, though certainly earnest and well-intentioned. There's nothing here that even comes close to rivaling the immediacy and atmosphericism of the songs on the group's initial release. Get that first album and ignore this one and all the others that came after it.

How sweet - the two lesser known Dream Academy albums at a budget price.
Given that most radio oriented material (i.e., hits) rely on beats, hooks and heavy dynamic probably doomed the Dream Academy to one hit wonder status after the global success of "Life In A Northern Town." That song relied deeply on atmospherics and carried onto radio on the strength of its "Hey ma ma ma" hook. At best, the most Dream Academy could hope for was to replicate that first single and hope the warm memories of their debut could help them build their success to the next level.
With "Remembrance Days," you can certainly say they tried. "Indian Summer," the melancholy diary of a May - September romance gallantly tries to recreate the mood of that first hit, ... Read More:

This is a good album and I would give it 3 and a half if possible. The production is top notch (of course,it's Dave Gilmour)and there's several very moving tracks like the title song.

I love it. It contains my most favourite songs of the 80s. 'Don't dream it's over', 'Shattered Dreams'' 'Heaven'. The best sellection. Songs that I've remembered all those years and now I'm happy to have them in my collection of sweet, maybe a bit sentimental music. And where else could you find Feargal Sharkey?
