Awakened Mind System 2.0

Awakened Mind System 2.0 was my first of Dr. Thompson's CDs, which I found while researching using binaural beats technology to enhance meditation. The sample tracks sounded pleasant to me and I was curious, so I placed the order. I am very pleased with the purchase.

I have some moderate experience with meditation and guided visualization, and from my earliest listenings of AMS 2.0 I noticed a difference in my relaxation and ability to turn inward. One of the suggested uses is to listen to these recordings during normal activities. However, I found the most enjoyment from falling asleep while listening, either at bedtime or just for a nap any other time. I seemed to awaken refreshed each time.

If you're the type of person, who will dwell on something to the point of sleeplessness, Delta Sleep may help you by distracting your brain. I find it helpful when played at a very low level.

Gamma Meditation System

I have most of Dr. Thompson's CD's and this is my favorite CD. I also have several levels of the Centerpointe Holosync series, which I enjoy also. Comparing the two series (Dr. Thompson's CD's vs. Centerpointe Holosync), I give the edge to Dr. Thompson. I find that the music on Dr. Thompson's series is more soothing and relaxing. I can also detect the beats, which my system seems to respond to better, than in the Holosync. As far as this Gamma CD, as I say it is my favorite. I don't find the music at all creepy or scary as some of the reviewers have noted, although I respect their opinion, it is how they perceive the music blended with their experiences. Sound Medicine: Music for Brainwave Massage

I have many CDs of this type and by Dr Thompson. He delivers what he promises: a very relaxing massage of the brain. I do warn against listening to this while driving or walking as it definitely zones me out in a few places.

Sleepy Ocean

10 to 15 mins of listening and I'm out cold for the rest of the night. I hit the repeat button and don't wake up until the alarm clock goes off. I have trouble staying asleep for more than two hours at a time and when I listen to this I have no problems. The delta waves in the background really help with winding my mind down.

The Ultimate Nap

I teach fifth grade in California. Sometimes it's difficult for them to come back into the classroom after recess and get settled down, ready for the next lesson. I picked up on a term I heard on tv (which they all know about this term)and I use it to my advantage. They love it and look forward to coming in and "Ideate" (I - de - ate) When they come back into the classroom I have one of my disk on the player at a low volume and let them just "Ideate" for 3-5 minutes. The length of time varies depending on their state of excitement. They can chose where to Ideate. On a table, the floor is popular, just sitting at their desk with their heads-down, etc. Believe me it works. A teacher's blessing.

Thunderstorm with Alpha Brainwave Pulses

I was disappointed with this product, for reasons that are perhaps idiosyncratic with me. I am a very light sleeper, the slightest "unexpected" noise will wake me up. So I wanted this Thunderstorm cd to sleep to (having it on "repeat" obviously) to block out all other noise. Unfortunately, it's not just rain with the occasional sound of thunder. Also included is the sound of rain dripping off a house onto the ground below. Dripping noises are much different than raining noises, and not at all pleasant! Then there's the sounds of birds chirping, which also gets on my nerves (I'm trying to block out early morning birdsong, as it is!)

Music For Brainwave Massage 2.0

I use Dr. Thompson's CD's for stress relief and with a few exceptions, he has an excellent line of CD's that hits the spot for me.

It is very easy to get into a meditative state with this CD.

If I can't meditate then the music is enjoyable too.

Dr. Thompson's CD's usually have some kind of brain wave frequency associated with the music (alpha, beta, delta, gamma, theta). I prefer gamma and theta for meditation. It's easier and "deeper" somehow. I find these frequencies more relaxing.

Your mileage may vary.

Delta Sleep System 2.0

I have (had) a real sleeping problem. For the past few years, I would wake after about 3 hours sleep. Then I lie there for hours trying to go back to sleep. Sometimes (too often) I would never go back to sleep at all. I've worked with the doctors and taken lots of medications. It got so bad that I was taking pills to sleep (which didn't work half the time) and then had to take something else to wake up. In desperation I tried this CD. I thought to myself "what could it hurt, at least it's a healthy alternative?" Was I ever surprised! It worked beautifully and perfectly! It's not as if I slept through the night, I didn't. But when I woke, I turned the CD back on and within a half an hour (first track) I was back to sleep again. I can't tell you in words ... Read More:

Delta Sleep Solution: Sleepy Rain

I love it when its raining hard outside, especially when I'm sleeping. This CD does a fantastic job at recreating the sound of rain. I find myself sleeping better and longer when I have this CD playing at night. The sound is very mellow and there are no LOUD claps of thunder or hurricane winds. I love this CD.
