Awsome album hands down. I really thought I was listening to George play and not John levin. Way sweet follow up to "Hell To Pay." This album actually reminds of "Dysfunctional," which was a more mature sounding Dokken but it still kept the flavor of the old school. "Lightning Stikes Again" should have been the follow up to "Dysfunctional." By far best album since then, it only took them about ten years but it finally paid off.

I love Dokken, all their stuff, but" Back for the Attack" is their best.
Beginning to end it does truly rock! With "Lost behind the wall, and cry of the gypsy being my favorites!

When a supposed hard rock band doesn't have any good hooks, vocal melodies, or guitar solos, you know you're in for a tough listen.
Dokken fits that description perfectly, I'm afraid. Maybe a threatening rock band at one point in time, nowadays their music just sounds like mindless party rock without really rocking out. Their music is so unmemorable that you can basically treat it as background music.
At least bands like Motley Crue and Ratt have some decent choruses from time to time. The music on this Dokken disc is just friendly music that passes by harmlessly. There's nothing about the singers vocal style, the melodies themselves, or the guitar solos that catch my attention. Basically Dokken has nothing going for them other ... Read More:

'George Lynch'...That sums up Dokken's Success, what little there was....Dokken, back in the 80's was my favorite band, hands down.....only because of George Lynch....yeah, Don had the songwriting skills, but without George, "Dokken" would never have been "Dokken"....take note--back in his day, George didn't know how to read music and never took any guitar lessons, until later in the 80's, when he met Tony Macalpine.......then he took a few 'classical' lessons.... anyway, his sound was his own, with the pinch harmonics and the fast licks....but, what made it his own, was the fact that he didn't know how to read music and he played from heart and soul...not to mention his "nasally" guitar sound, which he later started losing when he left Dokken and started his own ... This is the start of a great run from 1982-1988 Dokken in my opinion were one of the top 5 bands. Ok now the album
1.Breaking The Chains- 10/10 Great catchy title track that is still played live. Nice lyrics here and of course good vocals. Nice solo by George Lynch to go along with the good catchy riff.
2.In The Middle- 10/10 Great track very reminiscent of Rainbow in the 80's. The softer section adds a nice feel to the album. A great solo by George too of course. The catchy chorus of "In The Middle" work very well too.
3.Felony- 10/10 Excellent bass line and great vocals by Don Dokken. Nice little solo by George and some cool screams by Don Dokken.
4.I Can't See You- 10/10 Another good track here. Great catchy ... Read More:

THE BAND: Don Dokken (vocals), Jon Levin (guitars), Barry Sparks (bass), Mick Brown (drums & percussion).
THE DISC: (2004) 12 tracks clocking in at approximately 48 minutes. Included with the disc is a 6-page booklet containing song titles/credits/times, song lyrics, band photos and thank you's. Recorded at Total Access Studio, Redondo Beach, CA. Label - Sanctuary Records.
COMMENTS: Decades after their fame, who knew Dokken still had something to say in the world of rock and roll... let alone still make music worth listening to? Long time Dokken die-hards, like me, will eat this album up, or at least they should. Long departed axe-man George Lynch is still just a memory, as is Reb Beach and now John Norum. Enter unknown guitarist Jon Levin ... Read More:

Ok, I've been a Dokken fan for a long time, and this is a killer live album if you like their style of 80's rock. However, I own the cassette from back in the day, and "Standing in the Shadows" is the song after "Tooth and Nail". Where did it go???? I wanted to replace my cassettes with CDs, but the song has disappeared!!! *SCREAM* Otherwise, this is a 5-star production. But I can't help feeling cheated that the song is gone!

Nicely assembled and edited archive live 1981 performance of Dokken just prior to their debut lp - 'Breaking The Chains' release. Total of ten tracks. Some are right off the album, like the title cut, "Paris Is Burning", the eight-minute "Nightrider" and "Young Girls". Tunes here that appear to be exclusive to this disc are the jamming "Going Down" {their own version, not the cover}, "Hit And Run" and "You're A Liar". Just recently caught Dokken on tour as support band for Poison. Didn't realize that Don Dokken was 55. As he sounds good live, but he isn't near as lively on stage as he once was. Drummer Mick Brown was pretty happening as well.
