Dianne Reeves "When You Know" again demonstrates her vocal abilities but I have to say, the songs are a little too standard. Her voice is capable of much more intricate tunes and hopefully she'll return to the unique stylings that one usually finds on her collections.
Release Date September 29, 1992
I don't listen to all the tracks on this recording, but I've all but worn out 8, 12 and the final track, the Halleluia Chorus. Stevie with Take 6 is masterful, as well as Al Jarreau on the all-star big band session. The one disapointment that kept me from giving it 5 stars was the recording quality. I wanted to use Why Do the Nations... with Jarreau to audition a pair of high-end stereo speakers in the store, and the band sounded like they were recorded in a shoe-box. Unfortunate for such great musicianship and arranging.
Release Date September 27, 2005
This is a great and educational movie, but the soundtrack is what makes it! Dianne Reeves is at her very best on this cd, as she sings some of the oldies from the 40's and 50's. She doesn't force it, and her smooth voice breathes new life into some of these long forgotten songs. A must for anyone who loves the blues or late-night jazz.

"Vocalist Dianne Reeves' three-plus octaves, diva-like delivery, and intimate sense of song have long made her one of the most compelling vocalists in jazz." ~ The Seattle Times ~
This impressive offering from a multi-Grammy awardee and jazz vocalist extraordinaire, Dianne Reeves, is one of the most notable CDs from her discography. Released under a prestigious record label, Blue Note Records in 2002, its repertoire consists of thirteen of the best songs she ever recorded in the most beautiful settings so this CD belongs to the top shelf from my ever-growing music collection.
Ms. Reeves interprets the material in such an endearing fashion that will surely please the listeners' ears. She is backed by equally talented ... Read More:

This is a rare album. "Better Days" is a hauntingly soulful ballads with a hook that just won't let go. And "Chan's Song" is a beautifully crafted vocal rendition of Herbie Hancock's masterpiece. I had this album as a cassette tape years ago, and wore out the magnetism. Now I think I'll have to get it on CD. Just can't live without it.

"Dianne Reeves' superbly focused and articulate phrasing shine in this attractive new outing." ~ Don Heckman, Los Angeles Times ~
Dianne Reeves is an impressive jazz vocalist who has left an indelible mark in my own book of "Who's Who In Jazz." I have tremendously enjoyed all her recordings from my collection including this lovely CD, "A Little Moonlight" released in 2003 by Blue Note Records, a distinguished record company catering to the big names in jazz. Likewise, this album won the 2004 Grammy for "Best Jazz Vocal Album," a well-deserved recognition for Ms. Reeves, whose artistry is always appreciated by jazz enthusiasts.
This CD reveals a set of ten timeless standards from the creative pens of the greatest songwriters ... Read More:

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen! How's everybody doing tonight? You're my guests and this is my living room!" Hearing this, you know you're in for a real treat and Dianne does not disappoint.
This is such a great live CD and Dianne's voice is so pure and clear. Every song is masterfully sung with beautiful twists and turns. The music is just awesome. My favorites are Suzanne, Afro Blue, and Morning Has Broken. Take this wonderful live journey with Dianne - sit back and enjoy. If you like this CD and you've never seen her live, you've got to check her out. The sista is BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!

"The Calling is a celebration of The Divine One, as she was called by Dianne Reeves, a younger singer who shares many of Vaughan's gifts: a gleaming, pitch-perfect voice, a multi-octave range, and a harmonic sense that takes her on some remarkable flights of fancy. Like Vaughan, Dianne has a fondness for crossing musical borders as if they didn't exist." ~ James Gavin ~
I share James Gavin's sentiments written on Liner Notes about Dianne Reeves, whose artistry I first appreciated upon hearing some of her most remarkable recordings such as "Better Days," "Bridges" and "A Little Moonlight." Diane Reeves gives a beautiful and sincere tribute to a legendary jazz singer with the most recognizable voice, Sarah Vaughan. A chanteuse-extraordinaire herself, she performs ... Read More:
