The Essence

For what it is, a meditation CD, this is a perfect offering. The lady's voice is incredibly beautiful, the melodies are haunting and uplifting, and the significance behind the words is both meaningful and calming. Though it is definitely repetitious, mantras sung over and over, I have listened to it probably 50 times so far, know the words by heart, can sing the harmonies to her tracks, all levels, and find it lends to repeated hearing. I first heard it played very softly at my yoga class, and it caught my attention enough that I asked about the artist, then ordered the CD for myself. I love it. Deva Premal - meditation music. WOW !!! What can I say. I have been listening to Deva's cd's for years now, and she continues to be my personal favourite of this genre of music. All of her cd's are beautiful, healing, pure and immediately bring you into a state of universal consciousness. This particular cd is a collection of her softer mantras, and it is ideal for meditation. These tracks are taken from many of her cd's, and I couldn't have asked for a better selection and also, the order of the tracks here are spot on, and continually take the listener deeper within. From the fist few notes of Om Namo Bhagavate, I immediatly fell in love with Devas' music. Her voice is heavenly and no matter how my day has been or where I am in life, when I play this cd I instantly feel at peace. If you want a beautiful cd to relax to and that truely helps center you, mind, body, and soul.... then I would highly recommend this cd as well as all of her others.

This is a stunningly beautiful album. It is soothing and centering with it's exquisite harmonies. I find myself singing and humming the songs when not listening to it, and it always feels uplifting.

I love this CD. Everything about it is perfect. There isn't too much talking or corniness, the music isn't too distracting, and the poster has very clear photographs. However, I only recommend this CD to those who have taken several yoga classes and are relatively familiar with the names of the poses. You don't have enough time to scan the poster for information while the CD is playing.
