CD-Charts Music : One Hundred Greatest TV Themes

One Hundred Greatest TV Themes

from: Silva America

Release Date August 27, 2002
Face it, the appeal of TV theme songs is their familiarity. You know every sound in your favorites. You won't find any of that here. Some of these aren't even close to the originals. A lot are performed on cheap, lifeless digital synths. All of them sound like tired run-throughs of the music. There is no apparent interest on the part of the performers, so why should any listener be interested?

Star Trek: Generations

from: CBS Paramount International Television

Release Date July 13, 2004
Not the best Star Trek Album but has some great tunes. It seems a little predictable and repediative sometimes though the main theme seems to warm my heart when it kicks in.

This 2 disc set of Star Trek music is great for any Star Trek fan or even fans of instrumental music.

Enterprise

by: Dennis McCarthy

Release Date May 14, 2002
I really enjoyed the music of Enterprise, but was having a tough time with finding the CD. I was particularly interested in getting the CD for the theme song, which I absolutely love!!! The composer of the music for this TV show did an excellant job! Way to go, Mr. McCarthy!

Star Trek - Deep Space Nine: Music From The Original Television Soundtrack (The Emissary)

by: Dennis McCarthy

Release Date June 30, 1993
In this opening chapter of the excellent DS-9, we meet Dr. Bashir, the nicest, smartest Muslim in the galaxy. Truly Science Fiction. Star Trek again precedes social reality! (An American and a Russian cooperating? A black female officer?) And the part is even played by a real Arab actor.

The Science Fiction Album

by: Various Artists

Release Date February 08, 2005
Generally I agree with Strategos in his ecstatic Spotlight Review above. It is a joy to here some of the most memorable themes and cues from some of the most memorable science fiction and fantasy movies (re)recorded in great sound and in lavish (re)orchestrations, played by renowned classical orchestras, namely the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and the Philharmonia Orchestra, no less.

I have always had a weak spot for (good, or maybe even intelligent) science fiction/fantasy and film music, especially its way of evoking mystery, grandure and wide open spaces. Call it a weakness if you want. But it was maybe really kick started off, for as far as I can remember, with Star Trek. But especially Star Trek ... Read More:

Star Trek - The Next Generation: Music From The Original Television Soundtrack, Volume Two (The Best Of Both Worlds)

from: Gnp Crescendo

Release Date January 21, 1992
They should've gotten Ron Jones to do First Contact instead of Goldsmith. This is the kind of score you need for an epic battle with the Borg. Wonderful action sequences with stirring strings and threatening brass. And the Borg theme is just marvelous. Ron Jones or Dennis McCarthy or even Jay Chattaway should do all future Star Trek motion picture scores.
