Delaney & Bonnie On Tour With Eric Clapton

by: Delaney & Bonnie & Friends

Release Date May 18, 1989
I HAD THIS ALBUM ON VINYL WAY BACK WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT. THIS IS A GREAT ALBLUM BY DELANEY AND BONNIE, WITH AN ALL-STAR CAST BACKING THEM UP (INCLUDING DAVE MASON, JESSIE ED DAVIS, A FAT HORN SECTION, AND RITA COOLIDGE SINGING BACKUP), AND SOME BLISTERING GUITAR LICKS FROM OLD SLOW HAND, E.C. GREAT SOULFUL LYRICS, GREAT ARRANGEMENTS MADE ON THE FLY, AND WONDERFUL ALBUM FROM BACK IN THE DAY.

The Best of Delaney & Bonnie

by: Delaney & Bonnie

Release Date November 27, 1990
Delaney & Bonnie & Friends (1967 - 72) is one of those groups that, notwithstanding respectable sales (including two top 20 hit singles) and a loyal following that included high-profile fans such as George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Traffic, Jimi Hendrix, the Stones, and numerous others, have largely been forgotton since their breakup despite a body of work that was undeniably influential in terms of moving rock 'n' roll away from the excesses of late-period psychedelia and towards a more emotionally direct approach, rooted in soul, r&b, early rock 'n' roll, and gospel music. This change in direction is best illustrated by Eric Clapton, who was so impressed by D&B's second album that he invited the band to open Blind Faith's 1969 tour. The ... Read More:

A New Kind of Blues

by: Delaney Bramlett

Release Date March 25, 2008
Actually, with all apologies to Delaney, this Cd is not a new kind of Blues, rather it's the same old Blues that D.B. has always done. And this is a good thing. The old cliche goes that you can take the boy out of Mississippi but you can't take Mississippi out of the boy. D.B. proves that adage. The songs are great, the musicians are superb and D.B. still has that soulful voice. Whether you're an old fan or new, give this one a spin. Enjoy.

Original Delaney & Bonnie: Accept No Substitute

by: Delaney & Bonnie

Release Date September 10, 2002
Delaney and Bonnie gave us the heart and soul of rock throughout the late 60's and early 70's. A big band with gusto. I saw all the biggest names, but if I could transport back I would probably pick these guys over my 10' from the stage view of Jimmy Page's guitar solos. Less commercial, but this is music that lasts. No wonder people like Clapton and Leon Russell hung with them, were influenced by them, and influenced them.

When they broke up, neither one quite had the touch again. It happens, right Ringo?

This cd is what solidly established the band. Soulful rock with a gospel touch: brass section, superb keyboards, great guitar work, and very tight. Powerful vocals and harmony. Quality. You'll swear they are a current ... Read More:

Motel Shot

by: Delaney & Bonnie

Release Date February 14, 1997
I picked this album out of a bargain bin back in 1974, and it quickly began to get regular play on the turntable at our college apt. It caught my eye because of the "Friends" listed as playing on the album. They were some of my favorite musicians; Duane Allman, Dave Mason, Joe Cocker, and Leon Russell. Also present were the "Dominoes", the rhythm section from Clapton's Fillmore album, among others. Motel Shot contains a nice mix of original and traditional songs. Highlights are blues great Robert Johnson's "Come On In My Kitchen", and Delaney Bramlett's "Sing My Way Home", and his "Never Ending Song of Love", which received some radio play. Other standout numbers include "Long Road Ahead", "Lonesome And A Long Way From Home", and "Going Down The Road Feeling ... Read More:

How could this one have passed me by thirty or so years ago. I was listening to Delaney & Bonnie On Tour with Eric Clapton in my dorm room back in 1969. And I even caught them live at the old Capital Theatre in Portchester, NY around early 1970. Believe it or not they were the headliners and the opening act was The Allman Brothers Band and Johnny Winter And. But I loved all of their stuff, especially To Bonnie From Delaney. I always thought of their act as a kind of "Blue-Eyed Soul" version of Ike & Tina Turnner. But this album, Home seems to have completely passed me by.

That is until now. How could I have not heard this somewhere, someplace? Stax records and their trademark Memphis Soul "house-band", (better known as Booker T & The MG's)....COME ... Read More:

This is Delaney-and-Bonnie best album. I repeat exactly as before "I've got it on vinyl, but that won't last forever. Why won't Atlantic reissue it?"
