Loved this one the first time through. More hooks than a tackle box. Joe Elliot sounds as good as I've heard him. Also, you really never notice any shortcomings on the drums. Not Mike Portnoy, but really solid. A must have for any DL fan. Production is really good, although I've always found their backing vocals a little too doctored. Everything on this is good. Buy it!

if you don't want to buy several of their CD's, this is a great choice. I would have perferred more songs from High N Dry.

Many people assume that Def Leppard is heavy metal and so do not try them. However this album and Hysteria are must haves for any music enthusiast. The songs are well crafted and with a lot of attention to production.
Once again Mobile Fidelity has done a fine job of bringing out the best from the original recording without resorting to compression or other nasties. The bass is deep and strong, vocals are very clear and every instrument can be heard. A must for audiophiles that like to rock!

When I received the Def Leppard cd, High n Dry, I played it on my home cd player and on my auto cd player and it got stuck on certain sections. I would assume it is scratched. I intend to return it as soon as possible.

I had this on vinyl back in the day, but my other DL records were on so much they pretty much eclipsed this one as far as spin time. I just bought it last week again on CD and am really enjoying it. I think it's much better than just a decent debut by an up and coming band, or an interesting look at DL before they hit the sound they would run with. Anyone who heard this at the time it came out would have to have realized this band was going no where but up, up, up.
In fact if this album had gotten the production it deserved DL could have gotten an even earlier launch. As it happened though, hearing just this single debut album made John "Mutt" Lange to realize that DL was a band worth working with. He had produced both Highway to Hell ... Read More:

I reluctantly bought this CD because I am a huge Steve Clark fan and it was done after his death. I figured it couldn't have been any good if Steve wasn't involved. I couldn't have been more wrong. First of all, the Leps dedicated the CD to Steve, along with the song White Lightning, and (best of all!), most of the tunes were co-written by Steve. The music is pure Hysteria Leppard with a couple of notable exceptions that sound as if they could have been done in their Pyromania days ("Tear It Down," especially). There are also a couple of stinkers, too ("Let's Get Rocked," anyone? But then again Steve didn't co-write that one!) Phil did a phenomenal job interpreting Steve's guitar parts...not necessarily the same, but still impressive. There will ... Read More:

The ONLY downside to this entire CD is that with the exception of Desert Song, Fractured Love, & Two Steps Behind....each of these tunes had original releases as B-sides. For the most part, those songs have been tweaked here and there for reasons only the band can answer. I am a Leppard fan through the Adrenalize album. Aside from the song Promises, Euphoria and each release afterwards has gone farther away from the Leppard I grew to love. When Love & Hate Collide was even a track which had it's start long before it was released and the "demo" version contained the "last" recorded Steve Clark guitar solo from the studio.
This release culminaates alot of loose ends for the Lepps when it came to the legacy of Steve "Steamin" Clark. As ... Read More:

Do you love music with heavy production and huge vocal harmonies? Are you always looking for songs with massive hooks? Then this is the album for you! This has everything a fan of heavily produced commercial rock could ever want. I love this album and think it's a great companion to Hysteria and fits in nicely with Def Leppard's best. The whole album is essential listening and I can happily recommend it to fans of this genre.
