Death Cab for Cutie has always been an all-time favorite of mine. They were my very first concert.

I was ecstatic when I heard that they were finally coming out with a new album.

I couldn't have been more disappointed. Not even one song stood out on the ENTIRE CD.

Oh, Death Cab. Please, give us something decent next time. Please.

Plans

Plans by Death Cab For Cutie is a strange album. It's very melodic, acoustic, and indie, and every song on this album makes a great lullaby. I bought this album last summer and was impressed with every chord, every beat, and every note they played. Ben Gibbard's vocals combined with Chris Walla, Nicholas Harmer, and Jason McGerr's skilled playing make this a must-have album for any indie-rock fan.

This song has absolutely no vulgar language or profanities, or even sketchy references. As I said, you'll really enjoy this album.

Transatlanticism

I recently watched their Transatlanticism tour "Drive Well Sleep Carefully" on HBO and loved the songs. Normally I don't purchase an entire album unless I'm familiar with the artist and their music. So, I was pleasantly surprised by this purchase because it is a very good album. Other than just liking the sound of the band, I also enjoyed the enthusiasm that is evident when listening to their songs, like they really love what they're doing. I'm not good at giving reviews, I just know what I like, and I definitely like this album. I will probably end up buying all of their albums.

i LOVE dcfc, especially their old stuff. this album is the worst album they have, there are only about 4 good songs. and saying that this album is worse than 'plans' is saying a lot. but the lyrics are good. numbers 4, 6, and 10 are the best songs.

Calm, chill, really funky sound to it, touching songs. I could listen to this album 1000x over from start to finish without getting sick of it. The BEST Death Cab for Cutie album by far, and one of the very few albums in my collection I can listen to from start to finish!

something about airplanes

What a joy it is to be turned on or to discover music from an artist you're hearing for the first time. I literally stumbled onto Death Cab For Cutie, just passing time in an FYE. I picked up "Something About Airplanes" and thought I'd give a random listen. Needless to say, the incredible melodies, and compelling lyrical content immediately got me open. DCFC bears a strong resemblance to another favorite band of mine, Built To Spill. Lead singer Ben Gibbard's delivery is almost dead on for BTS's Doug Martsch's wailing, melancholy tone. That's a good thing to me, as the same things that drew me in to BTS also seemed to have me ready to expand the Death Cab collection to include their other releases. You Can Play These Songs with Chords

Most of the tracks on this offering are lo-fi and just full of washed-out, Pacific Northwest, dreary-day angst. This sound is distinctive from the brighter, fuller sound on their more recent releases. The last 10 tracks are bonus (compiled from various releases), including a Smiths cover, a glitzy-pop dance song, a sample-heavy track with a hint of hip hop rhythms, and a lovely closer.

I've come to regard this album as one of my favorites. It is an intensely honest, brazenly youthful, at times lonesome, and ultimately accomplished and varied gathering of tracks. Great first half, captures Deathcab doing what they do best, much less effortlessly then in recent times. Last few songs die down a bit since the last is just an alternate, which makes this essential for fans, but not everyone, although quite good ep.

This is without a doubt the best bit of Death Cab you can have on a cd. While only being 3 songs, it is perfect. The first two are fantastic and I'm not going to say much about them. I don't see why any Death Cab fan wouldn't like them. The third song, and in my opinion the best Death Cab song ever, is something it seems people like to hate. It's over 12 minutes and most of it is the same riff repeated over and over again. At first this may seem ridiculous and boring, but I assure that it gets better the more you listen to it. It's such a beautiful line and I feel it could go on forever and it still would be okay. Give the song (and the rest of the EP) a chance.

I've been trying to order this item. Everytime it arrives it is a similar item with the wrong track listing. I keep pointing this out to amazon, but they do not send the correct item. This is my third one, hopefully they will get it right this time.
