If you want a third rehash (Living with War, Living with War - In the Beginning and now this CD) of Neil's 2006 solo album - this will be your cup of tea. I'm not looking forward to the fourth attempt at trying to pry my money for essentially the same product (the DVD).

If you don't like Stephen Stills - I'd certainly purchase this just to look at the absolutely horrid photo of him inside. I'm guessing he did not select it (envision a constipated green blowfish exhaling while under duress). I'm guessing Stephen did not get a vote on that picture and I also suspect he and Neil aren't getting along (yet again).

The title of this album is now ironic. When I listen to it I can remember the sweet smell of smoke as an 8 track cranked out music and pick-up trucks and cars formed a lazy half circle around a small fire. Leafs crunched and cracked under our feet and in the night air a few wore jeans jackets and some wore plaid wool shirts but all wore Levi's and sneakers. A silver keg had many many friends and clusters of laughter would roll from one group to the next. We shared the laughs and we shared the beer and the weed. Opinions were so clear. I just recently obtained copies of both this title and deja vu. For the best possible listening experience, burn both albums on one cdr (both fit on an 80 minute cd), then sit back and enjoy! I especially like to play this on my drive to work, my lunch break, and sometimes again on the drive home. I have been familiar w the So Far album for many years since i first bought it on cassette at a used record store back in the nineties. 'so far' was my initiation to their music. Now, many years later, I score a copy of their debut and the whole thing just rocks.

So, because Yahoo! Music merged with Rhapsody, I finally have a chance to hear all of these out-of-print records I've searched countless bargain bins for, but never found! This makes me quite happy. Because for some reason, despite the fact that this was a very big seller that produced a couple hit singles, CSN is out-of-print in the U.S. Why? It's good! Maybe not as good as its two predecessors, but good nonetheless. I pretty much enjoy every song here: the hit single "Fair Game" is a Latin-jazz shuffle that provided the basis for Beck's hit "Tropicala" - it also has a really, really good acoustic guitar solo and is tremendously catchy. I absolutely loved this collection. It's true that some versions are, let's say, suprising (country-ish versions....) but the collection is very, very satisfying. I'm sad to see that "American dream" is not on it, as well as a couple of other noteworthy songs, but I'm nonetheless very happy I got hold of this collection.

The music world has been blessed, when three songwriters with three distinct voices and long pedigree, decided to unite their voices in angelic harmony, having been members of three of the most influential rock bands of the late sixties - Buffalo Springfield, The Birds and The Hollies.
In the early eighties, CS&N released "Daylight Again" to great critical acclaim. This was only their third record despite the fact that they had been together for more than a decade. Initially planned as a Stills/Nash project, marketing issues would later dictate the indispensable participation of David Crosby. This proved to be a very wise decision both in terms of songwriting and singing, for he contributed two dazzling performances - Delta, Might as well have a good time.
