It's funny to me how fans latch onto a particular band or artist and no matter what they come out with, it's "awesome". To me, this album is just average. It's sound is predictable, the songwriting is nothing special. And every track pretty much sounds the same.
Go ahead and send the hate mail, I can handle it. But I picked up the album because it was recommended by Amazon customers. I love you all, and I have used your recommendations many times. This will remain in my collection, and maybe after time, it will grow on me, but not now.

I am far from an expert on the Counting Crows. I am looking forward to seeing them perform live with Maroon 5. This album was purchased to give me a chance to hear what I expect to experience. I was pleasantly surprised how good they are and wonder if I will not be enjoying them more than Maroon 5. I highly recommend this album as a great introduction to a "new" group for your muscial library.

In December '07, I pay a visit to my grandsons in New Jersey and I found a strange song in the computer of my son. The title: "St. Robinson in his Cadillac dreams" of Counting Crows and........I like it. I collect LPs and CDs of popular music from 1960 from USA and United Kingdom. For me is the only song of this CD that I recommend

Not the masterpiece that the Crows presented with AUGUST, but SATELLITES is a quality album from a band that is still going strong. Moodier and darker than AUGUST without the endearing lyrics and "story" feel. Still a high recommendation for this effort.

This is one of the best live albums I've ever purchased and I think every one who likes pop/rock like Counting Crows should get themselves a copy, because the band's perfomance is extraordinary good - both of the performances!
It's a double live album which contains two live recordings from Vh1: Storytellers and a Mtv gig. The first is kind of an unplugged acoustic concert which is more quit and philosophic - also because of Adam's lyrical adds to the songs and the bands new interpretations of the songs. This is an individual decision if you like this or not, but I love it! The Mtv concert is more loud and the songs are more the ones you know from the albums, but still you feel the band's energy and you understand why they are such a popular live ... Read More:

This CD is pretty difficult for me to review. I have a kinda love/hate relationship with this CD. At times it seems almost great to me and at other times below average. This is definitely one of those CDs where my mood and state of mind at the time of listening has everything to do with how I feel about it. Therefore I guess 3 stars is the fairest way for me to review it. I really like the first three tunes (yes even American Girls, which most on here don't like) and "Good Time would have sounded right at home on "August..."). I even like "Richard Manuel" except something about the arrangement during the chorus bothers me. "Why Should You Come..." suffers from an even worse arrangement along with being a very subpar song. This song really grates me. "Butterfly ... Read More:

Short and sweet......this is a magnificent compilation. It has been years since I have enjoyed listening to a CD to the point of having to pry it from my machine. Can we please see a companion DVD!!
Release Date September 18, 2007
"August and Everything After" remains my all time favorite album. One of the very few I can listen to as a whole, song after song. Adam Duritz has an amazing poetic mind, and Anna Begins may be the most beautiful love song ever written. The sound quality of this version of the album is far superior to the original. The demos and live tracks are excellent. Buy this if you don't already own August! If you do, and you really are a fanatic, as I am, buy it anyway and love it.

a solid overview by a band that captures real emotion with their music. The songwriting is strong and the special energy of the band comes through on so many of these songs. I caught them live last night (HOB charity event in Dallas for Mike Modano foundation) and it's refreshing to see how well these songs have held up through the years. Each song tells a different story. There is substance and soul present that is sorely missing from most "pop" music these days. This band proves enduring and continuously satisfying.
