This is the best Conya Doss yet. Great voice, meaningful lyrics, excellent productions. I purchased three of her CD's. This one , "Love Rain Down" and "Just Because". I love all three of them.

Conya Doss is a gem of a find. Great voice, meaningful lyrics, excellent productions. I purchased three of her CD's. This one , "Still" and "Just Because". I love all three of them. How can she not have a major recording contract?

Conya Doss is what is so very right about organic soul music. This album features stripped down tracks with beautiful, inventive live instrumentation and her beautiful vocals. The thing that I love the most about Conya and other artists like her who are fighting to keep the neo-soul thing alive is that their music demands my total attention. I really pay attention to not only the lyrics but the musical production as well - there are no heavy hollow beats to distract me.

It's really impossible to compare Conya to another artist because she is a unique vocalist/songwriter whose heartfelt lyrics lend believability to each track. My favorite tracks are:

Poem About Ms Doss

I completely agree with Babygirl-some people went into listening to this album expecting an Erykah Badu or Jill Scott-like style, but she's neither one of them. While I'll say that Conya has an organic soul feel to "A Poem About Ms. Doss," it has every bit of a Mary J. or Faith contemporary feel. I hate comparing artists to one another before listening to an album because it would limit my listening experience if I expected to hear "Bag Lady," "He Loves Me," or even Ledisi's "In the Morning/Alright" from Conya. Those who weren't as thrilled with the album as I am probably have done this. To me, the whole album is good but my top 5 (in no particular order) would be:
1) Smile Again
2) Coffee
3) All Because of You
