This is an excellent CD to introduce children to some of the more familiar operas. I would highly recommend this CD for children and also for adults who want to become familiar with opera.
Release Date May 12, 1998
Joan Sutherland is beyong doubt one of the greatest, if not the greatest voice I've ever heard. Her voice is so pure, perfect pitch, makes the hairs stand up on the back on your neck. All three of her CD's, which I bought to replace the old LP's I have.
Worth every penny. I was lucky enough to see her live on many ocassions.
Magnificent voice!!

I love Finnland metal and Charon is one of the best out there!!!!!! Great music and vocals and what else can I say these guys are great!!!!!

Who says gothic metal bands have to be slow and depressing? Charon proves that they can be upbeat and melodic...and depressing. Of course, Charon is far from the only Finnish band that shows gothic metal doesn't have to be slow and funereal. Sentenced, HIM, and to some extent Amorphis also take a more melodic approach to the genre.
2000's Tearstained is Charon's second full length album. Like HIM, you can get so caught up in the melodies and speedy guitar riffs that you totally overlook the darker lyrical concepts (it just feels wrong for a song titled Deepest Scar to be so upbeat). The guitar riffs are very reminiscent of One Second era Paradise Lost, but you also hear traces of Sentenced and even Therion (see Sorrowbringer and 4 Seasons Rush). ... Read More:

Been a big fan of Goth Rock since the mid '90s and the Swedish band "Misery Loves Co.," and Portugal's "Moonspell." Charon, for those of you who are completely unfamiliar, is much more in the vein of H.I.M. Now, before anyone flames this review, I will state now that for an album to be "great" it must be able to do its style of music in some truly NEW way, or redefine the genre. Charon is a welcome addition to this genre though it must be said that this and all other of their albums are available domestically at lower prices, and this addition comes circa '01 and not '06 as Amazon incorrectly states.
As for this album, it's beautifully sung and guitar-wise has more solid solos and leads than theur more recent "The Dying Daylights." This album ... Read More:

Being a huge fan of all things metal and rock I was very excited to get my hands on this disc, and though I was thrilled at first, there's little in the songs to keep me listening a year out. There's alot of little things that bugged me. Firstly, the songs "Death can Dance" and "Guilt on Skin," though both highlight songs on the album, follow extremely similar chord progressions. You can take riffs from either song and splice them together, but the chorus riffs are very similar. (They are still very excellent songs on their own right, just too similar to be released on the same cd in my opinion.) There's other bits on some songs, the track opener "Religious-Delicious" contains a guitar solo where the guitarst just seemed to be bored, just plucking notes that ... Read More:
