This is Buddy Guy at his best. His distinctive voice and style are skillfully showcased on this CD. Great listening for blues fans!
Release Date October 31, 2006
A great box set of of blues from the man who was before Jimi, before Stevie and before Eric. I should have been listening to Buddy long ago. Three solid discs of tunes and a snappy DVD with a great mix of interview and concert video. Includes a sizeable booklet of Buddy Guy history along with the CD tracks and players. I love this set and I have nothing negative to say about it. A must have!
Release Date March 08, 2005
I love this CD. They don't even need to list the guest artists. Make no mistake, this is buddy's CD. From the first second of the first song you realize this is something special. I have never heard better vocals from Buddy, so powerful, so deep. He truely captures the blues and then he blows it away. The guitar work is amazing, I'm a SRV fanatic, and this is as close to the raw power and intensity of any SRV recording.

I like "Damn Right, I've Got the Blues" better, but this is still great. I loved Stevie Ray Vaughn, and since Buddy played at the last concert Stevie ever gave, I looked forward to hearing the instrumental tribute to him. I wasn't disappointed. Anybody who thinks Chicago blues is always loud and driving should listen hard to that one. Like any great music, there's more than one way to be blue. Yeah, Buddy.

I've listened to quite a few blues players and Buddy Guy is the most energetic and uptempo player I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. This cd ROCKS! Plain and simple. In particular: Cut You Loose, What Kind of Woman, Now You're Gone, Cheaper To Keep Her, and Somebody's Sleeping In My Bed are all above average tracks and will have you playing this album for years to come. A must own for any Blues/Rock fan. Kudos to Buddy Guy for cutting such a rocking album!

Having been a HUGE fan of Buddy, I for some reason past this album over. No real reason, it just got put to the back burner. Well, its now been about 7 years since it's release and I have finally gotten around to purchasing this one. ... HOLY CRAP!! It is super-fantastic!. I am ashamed it took me that long to pick this album up, and upset with myself at the same time. How could I allow an album of this calibur to set on the back burner for so long. I had heard it was a good album, but had no idea ... It is that good. If you are gonna buy it, well open up cause. Hot fudge is comming on in. Good Lord!
Release Date October 25, 1990
"Stone Crazy" is one of the best records Buddy Guy has made. Unvarnished, raw, not contaminated with pop-sounding songs and superfluous guest stars, this CD was recorded when Buddy Guy was just another much admired, but little recorded bluesman.
This record sounds like Buddy was set free. After being corseted by record companies and made to play with brakes, Buddy plays with unrivaled fury and intensity on such cuts as "When I Left Home," "The Outskirts of Town," "I Smell A Rat," and others.
Buddy needs to make more records like this. Any Buddy record is awesome, but this kind of Buddy record is priceless.

Buddy Guy is one of my all-time favorite bluesmen....and this is the album which started it all for me.
Listen to these songs and be changed. The album starts out with "Worried Mind", a relaxing blues tune, which shows the mellow side of Buddy Guy. Relax while you can, for some fiery vocals are not too far off! When Buddy sings "She Suits Me To A Tee" I honestly wonder at what point his vocal chords will snap. And when Buddy sings "I Cry And Sing The Blues" you are convinced that in fact he is crying and singing the blues. Listen to this album just once to hear one of the greatest bluesmen in history and no doubt you will be won over just as I was to Buddy Guy's music.
5 stars....a fantastic single disc compilation at a ... Read More:

Far and away his best solo effort. Everything that people love about Buddy Guy is present on this album: smoking guitar (yet still pure blues--B.B. and T-Bone on steroids vintage Buddy, untainted by rock producers and multitudes of guest appearances), passionate vocals, and lots of personality. Some highlights are title track which is textbook slow blues, unimprovable! A hot blues blues version of "Money," and the classic take on "Mary Had a Little Lamb." Actually though, in all fairness to Buddy, every track here is classic blues!
