When Ran & Cheddar grabbed me right after one of them grabbed this album in 1981 [on cassette & LP in those days] and we went for a long drive, I had trouble getting the name of the album but the music was hypnotic and amazingly brilliant. I didn't stop listening for months cos it touched my soul. Whether the urban legend is true that this is the first real 'sampling' album or not, it IS amazing and timeless. A 'DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR [& YOUR MATES]' album. Individually, Brian and David are modern musics equivalents of Mozart and Beethoven. Together, .... heavenly! This album is wondrous in its 'sampling' choices and original musical accompaniment to those themes. Each composition is a classic because of those two and we have the honour ... Read More:

My favourite music for relaxation and/or meditative states of mind. Music for Airports is never intruding and uses soothing sounds rather than melodies. More minimalistic than most new age music of today.
I own about 5 Eno albums and about 4 Harold Budd albums and several other ambient albums by other artists. This album "Ambient 2" is one of my favorites, not only as an Eno album, not only as an Ambient album, but it is one of my favorites music albums overall. I am a huge fan of ambient, and I have wasted a fair amount of money searching for good albums to listen to, so it is always so refreshing and satisfying to stumble upon an ambient album that is really good. It is hard to shop for ambient albums, because there is such a fine line between good ambient, and ambient that sounds like cheesy new-age music, or just not very good sounding ambient.
I own "Ambient 1" by Eno, but I only like 2 out of the 4 songs on it. On this ... Read More:

While all of Brian eno's work is interesting, his own work in the ambien series, while refreshîng, was enver as exciting as this piece; it is ironic that the best album in this series would not be by eno himself.
Release Date November 03, 1998
I fell in love with Velvet Goldmine the very first time I saw it - in large part thanks to this soundtrack. But when you look at the roster of names involved with this project - Michael Stipe, Brian Eno, Thurston Moore, Placebo, Thom Yorke of Radiohead - it should come as no surprise -greatness begets greatness!
There are really no weak songs on this soundtrack. Needle in the Camel's Eye is simply infectious - this song - which opens the movie - was as subtle as a slap in the face and immediately grabbed my attention. The closing song - Steve Harley's Make Me Smile - conveys the sheer joy and passion music can provide. And all of the songs in between are even better.
We are treated to some of the biggest names from the era including Roxy ... Read More:

Some people believe this is one of the greatest pop albums of the 70's, and who am I to argue? Not only because I can't argue, but because I love the music on here, a LOT. Pop writing perfection. Every vocal melody, every instrumental bit. Exceptionally solid songwriting. Brian Eno had something good going here, and this album deserves to be remembered for all the great vocal melodies.
Release Date March 22, 2005
This is one of three Eno albums I have, and the one I listen to most frequently.
I am very much looking forward to listening to this on headphones as I sit under a star-studded moonless night sky far out in the Utah desert this spring. "Under Stars", under stars.
And "Always Returning" is deep midnight sonic bliss.

Truly, when "Ambient 4: On Land" was first released in 1982, it was decades ahead of its time, or even, as another reviewer here described it , "timeless". "Ambient 4" can be said to have been the shape of ambient to come in the way it abandons all clear instrumentation and obvious melody to reach an ultimate goal: simulating a virtual, fictional world. Spacial effects and panning give the listener the sense bring the listener beyond the point of being reminded of an environment and into the realm of feeling as if they are there. "On Land" abandons the new age ideal of music for the functional purpose of relaxation, and also doesn't seem intended to be used as a backdrop for daily activities, as it rewards focused listening.
The place "On Land" will take you to is green ... Read More:

"The Pearl" is the beauty of affectionate love, love expressed in small things, the love of small birds, of being alive, of being eternally grateful, the beauty of trees.
This album is Priceless. I was listening to the Drone Zone Radio station when I came across "A Stream With Bright Fish". Holy God. A foretaste of the feast to come. A fragment of heaven. I downloaded this album and was blown away.
"The Pearl" is Excellent. It's superb functional music for reading, sleeping, crying, praying, kissing, calming frayed nerves, cleaning your house, doing creative work, taking a walk, and loving life in general. It's also just plain great music. Why?
This album brings out the secret beauty that exists, hidden, within everything in your life.
