I bought this CD five years ago, and I just fell in love with it. We have been playing this CD almost every night -- origionally for our first born, who's five years old now; and now for our younger one. This is THE CD I brought to the labor room during the birth of both kids. Both times, the OBGYN and nurses have commended that they love this CD too. I have to admit that this is the only CD that we have listened to the most and still not get tired of it.

Big fan of this man's music and this project does not disappoint at all. Great diversity in the musical instruments he chooses and the combination of vocals on the cuts make for a wonderful listening experience. Suggested listening to all who enjoy "good driving" jazz.

Received it during the timeframe indicated with no damage done to it during transport. Enjoyed purchasing with Amazon for it is truly hassle free. Will continue to do business with Amazon in the future.

Come On Up

I briefly looked at several of the Amazon reviews. The most accurate description is that this CD is upbeat, funky and shows total deference to the grooves of Earth Wind & Fire. One track is a remake of Serpentine Fire. Other tracks feature Marcus Miller, Ricky Peterson and other notable musicians. The entire CD demonstrates Brian's current direction both as a producer and concert performer. Enjoy!!!!

I've been a fan of Brian Culbertson since 1995 and his Christmas CD is very, very enjoyable. If you get the chance to check out his Christmas concert, I highly recommend it!!

After Hours

I'm a smooth jazz fan, and love the formula over the past decade or so--the sounds of a sweet sax to the beat of an old R&B song. More recent Brian Culbertson CD's follow this formula, but this CD is so caught up in the "Quiet Storm" motif that I longed for the "storm"--this CD is all about the "quiet."

First of all, there is not a single song with a discernable beat.

Second, many of the songs are so self absorbed they have "introductions" as a prelude to the song. Dude, just play the song, I'm not impressed by titles and labels.

I would pass on this CD. Brian Culbertson has some excellent CD's and tracks--but this isn't one of them. Unless of course you are a dentist--you might find the CD useful.
