Boston - Greatest Hits

Great music from a great band but I have problems (no CD in there) with playing the CD on 2 different CD-Players (Pioneer and Marantz) only on my Laptop it is working. How can that be?? What`s wrong with this record? Has anybody an idea?? Let me know. Thank you so far and greatings from germany!!!

Boston in my opinion is one of the best bands of all time and their newly remastered first album is no different. With classics Like More Then a Feeling, Peace of Mind, and Rock and Roll Band I find it hard to believe that someone could not enjoy this music. I like how also the cover booklet contains history and facts about Boston.

The music you hear on the NBC Olympic broadcasts is pretty much all on this disc.

One problem is that on the O Fortuna track, the volume from 00:23 to 01:38 is really low for some reason. Almost inaudible for that section of the song.

This product is wonderful and i would recommend it to anybody who is expecting a baby. It can be used also later on when the baby is born of course so it is a never-ending beautiful piece of music.

Don't Look Back

I purchased this CD, for a good price from Amazon, to replace the heavily scratched original which kept skipping. I've since ripped this to my MP3 player.

I've got to say, the remaster has a little more dynamics, but the biggest difference is the liner notes. Where the original only had a few lines and photos (my favorite quote is from Tom, "Thanks to CBS for their patience" a sarcastic remark for rushing him to finish the album), this album has more photos and a 'critique' if you will from a friend of Tom's.

Tom may have been rushed into making the album, but it was the '70s. Every record label was pushing their artists to put out an album every year, sometimes more. As a Rush fan, Neil Peart once spoke of 'finally ... Read More:

Peter and the Wolf / Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra / Carnival of the Animals

I LOVE the narration of this version. David Bowie does an outstanding job of representing all of the different characters. My only problem is that there are some "skips" in track 1. I'm not sure if this is representative of all downloads of this MP3 CD or if something went screwy during my personal download, but it's very disappointing.

Debussy for Daydreaming

Definitely for daydreaming, or for putting the little one down at bedtime. Good start to those wanting to see if they like Debussy. Includes many of his most famous works (Clair de lune, etc.)

Third Stage

There is a great article on Wikipedia about Boston, which can give you some insight on Tom Sholtz's way of thinking, and why there was an 8 year hiatus between Don't Look Back and Third Stage. No matter what people might think about Tom, his style of playing and technical contributions to the electric guitar have changed rock music, the way it is recorded, and how it is played. Although Brad Delp's vocals define Boston's characteristic sound, to say that there could be a Boston without Tom Sholtz would be naive. You have to imagine what it was like to hear the songs for the first time, when you had never heard a "dive bomb" before, to understand why so many guitarists looked up to the guy...

A nice sampler. I bought it primarily for "Together, Forever" from Gypsy, though its nice to have the Broadway version of "Send in the Clowns (I believe by Glynis Johns). But it is just a sampler, and fans of Broadway music are probably better served buying the full original cast recordings.
