This album literally lives in my car CD player. It is one of the best collection of Bobby Darin songs (hits and other songs) found on one CD, and I never tire of it.
I must admit, my favorites are the "swingers", "On The Street Where You Live", "Once In A Lifetime", "More", "Charade" , but I am also fond of "Call Me Irresponsible", "The Good Life", "If I Were A Carpenter" and "Softly As I Leave You". To be honest, I never cared very much for his "teeny bopper" songs such as "If A Man Answers" which is found on this album. And, as one of the few Bobby Darin fans who dislikes "Splish Splash", I am glad that song is featured in a medley of other songs. The best ever collection of Bobby Darin's music. The sound quality is good, though you can tell it's from old recordings, and it spans his entire career. While it's missing one or two of my favorites, it's definitely worth buying, whether your a new fan like me, or a fan from way back.

This second volume of the Ultra Lounge: Wild, Cool & Swingin' Artist CD Series has a terrific assortment of hits and ballads by the immortal Bobby Darin. This warmed my heart as I am a huge fan of Bobby's. The sound is excellent--and how's about that artwork?

"As Long As I'm Singing" has a big band arrangement to accompany Bobby's vocals; he never misses a beat and he never sounded better either! Bobby's excellent diction bolsters his performance. Bobby Darin was music's most underrated performer. With the exception of Frank Sinatra, no one could dig into the soul of a song like him. He could take any song, either a swinger or a ballad, and make it his own, no matter who else recorded it. His versatility as a general performer was equally impressive, as he was an accomplsiehd musician, songwriter, dancer, actor, coemdian and impressionist. The Swinging Side of Bobby Darin showcases Bobby's excellent skills as a born natural entertainer. When Bobby delivered a song he put all his heart and soul into his performance; and it shows every step of the way. The sound quality on this CD is good; and the artwork is great!

The CD starts with Bobby singing "I Got Rhythm;" this incredible Gershwin number features a big band style arrangement and Bobby swings brightly as he sings this to perfection! Bobby Darin's excellent diction bolsters his performance all the more, too. "I'm Beginning To See The Light" puts Bobby's strong vocals squarely in the spotlight and he sounds better than ever on this tune! Bobby really impresses me with this song and I really like "I'm Beginning To See The Light."
