Blackmore's Night is the creation of guitarist Ritchie Blackmore (who once played with classic rock bands Deep Purple and Rainbow) and vocalist, Candice Night. Their music has been compared to rockin' renaissance, and has a definite renaissance quality to it. Their music features electric guitar, acoustic guitar, various drums, hurdy gurdy (don't ask me, I have no idea!), shawms, rauchpfeife, recorder, chanters, keyboards, bass, violin and bagpipes.

Ghost of a Rose

I continue to listen to this album often. Every song is good and has its own atmospheric presence. I often travel to the high sierra nevada's and this album doesnt leave my cd player. I highly recommend it. Composed beautifully and sound quality is great.

I had and really liked BOOK OF TALISYN-and then became a PINK FLOYD fan-and then moved to RENIASSANCE;
Ive always wondered about this, but never heard any-
and then out of curiosity, MP3 of OCEAN GYPSY
I must say the Candice Night does this every bit as good as Annie Haslam in RENAISSANCE
I cringed at Micheal Dunfords "covers" of h is own material with Stephanie Addington-on THE OTHER WOMAN

But Candace has a voice and understanding to do this magical song justice.

All for One: The Finest Collection Of

I found this group by accident about a year ago. In that time, I have become a big fan of their style, a wonderful fusion of renaissance melodies and lyrics with a bit of a harsh, rock edge to it. They are magnificent.

This album is a collection of previous works. Some of them like "Once in a Million Years", "All Because of You" or "Waiting Just for You" are among my absolute favorites but, as I said, it has been done before. Other selections are merely great. They do have a compilation album in which everything ranks, for me, as their greatest but this is not it.

Still, it's a great album!

Secret Voyage (2LP)

I purchased this CD as a gift and the receiver was very happy with it except for one thing: the bonus music video of the song "Village Lanterne" was nowhere to be found on the disc! After attempting to find it by playing the album in both a computer and a DVD player, the video still would not appear. This was most frustrating and confusing as the back cover of the album clearly lists the video after the musical tracks. I think what may have happened is that the bonus video only came with the Secret Voyage Limited Edition Digipak album and the regular album does not have the video but it's listing was mistakenly left on the regular album back cover.
