"Sellout" is a word that I don't care to use very much anymore for several reasons. It has been used ludicrously in such situations as Bob Dylan switching from acoustic to electric guitars. Or when the overwhelmingly awesome metal band Mastodon had one of their songs played on one of Tony Hawk's video games. Come to find out they received no money for their contribution, but still the "sellout" cries abounded. Often people miscall artistic maturity "selling out". It's a fact of life, many people do not like to do the same things when they were younger. And yet when I look at the BEP, it is one time when the word that I hate to use anymore is the only one that applies.
When the BEP started, they seemed like a credible hip-hop ... Read More:

I've always thought the Black Eyed Peas were reminiscent of The B-52s. It's not that their sound is so much like theirs' (They sound nothing alike.), it's that they have the same quirky, fun, spirit.
This is the way pop music should be. It's incredibly corny, the lyrics are dumb and shallow, but it just sounds right.
You can tell they don't take themselves too seriously, and that's a good thing... to me at least.

Another better group got the deal from the underground, where conscious and dedicated artists have always been since the birth of the hip hop--simply, that was the first impression of Black Eyed Peas when they released their first album, Behind The Front, in 1998. The scene enjoyed their attitude trying to inherit the hip hop sprit, criticizing the superficial image--"I see you try to diss our function by stating that we can't rap. Is it cause we don't wear Tommy Hilfiger or baseball caps" ("Falling Up"). However, the album is monotonous and raw due to lack of variety in MC styles and beats. Fast and plain raps on light funk continue without significant changes in contents and moods. Skits, which would disappear in next album and later, make it more ... Read More:

I've read review after review here stating BEP sold out. Can we please remove this moniker from the English language. It's old and I'm over it. Musicians make albums to make money, just as we go work ten hours a day to get PAID! That being said, this IS a classic hip-hop album. Perhaps BEP in their finest hour. Having never heard Behind the Front, I would say this has got to be their best album. The beats are infectious and the cameos are kick a**. Charlie the Tuna hasn't even been mentioned, but he sets it off on "Get Original" and Macy Gray is addictive on "Request Line". My old roommate, Jason, turned me on to this and I don't think I could ever thank him enough. I remember seeing these guys play at Warped Tour over ten years ago, believing they would ... Read More:

What an outrageous group, how can anyone like this rubbish. Maybe an horde of brainless people. How I feel happy in being intelligent, and live my life with things of absolute quality and not consuming this kind of food for mediocres. How said Romans, it's just bread and circus to the poors. Give to people what they deserve, rubbish! It's because mediocre people that buy this, that this kind of people, the members of this group, get money and laughs behind the scenes about how dumb people can be. It's the same horde that buy, Beyonce, Spears, Madona, and other outrageous poor music.

I ordered this thinking that it was a Black Eyed Peas music CD. Even though it comes up under the Amazon Music category and even though the audio tracks are laid out like a music album, this is AN AUDIO BOOK ... there is no music here!

Elephunk, the third album of the Black Eyed Peas, shows consequential musical differences from their preceding albums. Dominant musical style was shifted from organic hip hop to pop funk; at the same time, range of the styles through the whole album got broadened; and a regular female vocalist officially joined the group.
Most songs from their first and second albums are based on repeated beats, even performed by a live band. On the contrary, many from Elephunk have prototypical pop tune structures: thematic parts and bridges. Now the audience's primary perception of a song is neither its beat nor its lyric, but its thematic melody (Think "Let's Get Retarded," for example). This must be a big turn-off for fans who have supported the BEP as a hip ... Read More:

The Black Eyed Peas are the best group out there right now, and this new single is no different. The original version of this song is "Let's Get It Started," which is apparently one of the three tracks on the single. Both versions are definitely my party anthem of the summer... I can't get enough of either of them. Both "Let's Get Retarded" and "Let's Get It Started" are on the re-released copy of Elephunk, so if you enjoy this song, I would strongly suggest picking up Elephunk. It's one of those CD's that you can listen to straight through without having to skip over. Both this single and their album are well worth the money!
