I'VE LOVED THIS PARTICULAR CD SINCE IT FIRST CAME OUT. RECENTLY, MY NIECE WAS KILLED BY A DRUNK HIT AND RUN DRIVER AND I BOUGHT THIS CD FOR HER PARENTS IN THE HOPE THAT IT WOULD HELP THEM PROCESS AND HEAL. I RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE. VERY GOOD LISTENING.

I came accross Beth when my sister died. I remember hearing "Sand and Water" being played in the house after the funeral. Her haunting voice tempered with a clearness seemed to rest the minds and spirits of the family.

6 years later and my partner lost her father and I was asked if I knew any music that could be played at the funeral. I remembered the music of Beth and bought this album. My partner and her mother immediately fell in love (and cried) when "Say Goodnight" was played and this they choose for the final song at the funeral.

But please dont get the idea that this album is morbid. Its simply a delight of beautiful songs, sung with a clarity that is rare.

Prism: The Human Family Songbook

I'm a huge fan of Beth's "Sand and Water" album but haven't checked out any of her other albums until a friend mentioned that I should listen to this one. Simply stunning! Her voice is clear, beautiful, and soulful, and she does all of these hymns/songs/chants justice, in fact, she raises them to a whole new level. I'm grateful to my friend who recommended it.

I heard Beth perform "Life Holds On" at a Farm Aid concert and it saved my life I think. I've bought this CD about five times now. I keep giving my copy away to folks that NEED to hear that song!

I've liked Beth Nielsen Chapman from the very beginning. This CD has been out for over a year, and I finally bought it. It is a wonderful trip. As usual, she has a number of different styles - jazzy THE REASON and title song, pop style tunes in TRYING TO LOVE YOU and RIGHT BACK INTO THE FEELING, and a little more country than normal in TIME WON'T TELL. But, her trademark sound comes through on I FIND YOUR LOVE, TOUCH MY HEART, and the duet with her son, YOUR LOVE STAYS (also a little more country than usual). Her voice is crystal clear, her composition is flawless. It's probably NOT as good as SAND AND WATER, but it's up there with YOU HOLD THE KEY to offering a great variety for a solo singer. You Hold the Key

Nielsen Chapman is an odd duck as a singer-songwriter because she straddles several genres: adult contemporary, country, and jazz "lite". Her voice is firmly midrange..not a stratospheric soprano nor one I'd consider "dusky". The singing is tasteful, avoiding the tremulous vibrato that plagues AC divas but not being so "low-key" that it fades into the background.

HIGHLIGHTS:
The waltz of "Dance with Me Slow" is one waiting to be discovered as a new torch song. I'm incredulous that it isn't a wedding standard. It's enhanced by a nice muted trumpet part. "Say it to Me Now" is a passionate plea for real honesty in relationships. Deeper Still

I recently downloaded "Deeper Still" from Itunes & it quickly became a new favorite of mine. Every song on this CD is beyond beautiful and "deep", containing important life insights & connecting with feelings we've all experienced at one point or another in our lives.

In each song Beth connects with her listens in a most beautiful & profound way - it is truly awesome!

I would categorize this music as folk or folk-rock. However, on this particular CD, there is also a celtic-flare to several of the songs.

So, if you like "folk-rock"-type music & music that touches your heart, then this CD is for you! I honestly can't recommend it highly enough!
