I bought this CD to practice for my audition in a local production of HSM. I really only focus on the two ensemble numbers, "Stick to the Status Quo" and "We're All in this Together". All of the songs are sung and played well. The lyrical content is perfect for children. Very small ones can dance to the aforementioned ensemble numbers; older kids can croon along with the ballads. Tweens and teens will love this musical, as it focuses on their generation. For example, in "Stick to the Status Quo", brainiac Martha Cox admits her passion is "hip hop". (You won't find that in the other delightful musical, GREASE!)

Little Mermaid

I have such a soft spot for musicals -- especially Disney musicals. The Little Mermaid is one of my very favorites -- most of the songs are so catchy I can't help but tap my foot and sing along. After a bad day there's nothing better than turning this puppy on full blast. Every song you remember is here, including the wonderful orchestral score.

The bonus songs are terrifying, however. Whoever thought that the Little Mermaid needed to be put to horrific, half-baked pop/r&b and shrieked by children of dubious talent should probably have large rocks thrown at them. Just a suggestion. Headstrong

I've always loved Ashley Tisdale so much, and her debut album is fantastic! I had heard her in HSM and her voice was immediately stuck in my head. Among my favorites are "So much for you," "Headstrong," "Unlove you," "Posivity," "Be good to me," "Don't Touch," and "We'll be together."
I like most of the songs, but "He said She said," didn't do it for me, and neither did, "Not like that." But, there are few albums where you will like all of the songs. This is a great choice for girls ages 8-14, possibly older.
Anyway, I think Ashley Tisdale, with the right songs, is much more talented than Vanessa Hudgens

This is so much fun! My daughter and I have girl time singing off key to this. As a special treat a few times a year, I plan to take my karaoke machine and several of the kid favorites to my classroom for my students to enjoy. They'll know every word of this new classic!

This is a rehash of the soundtrack, but is good for notice to finally be taken that Zac Efron did NOT sing in HSM. In a Disney interview he said that for that reason he was not part of the tour. He does sing in HSM2 (fairly well at that).
