I haven't read enough about this album to know why these two ended up together (surely it's written up somewhere), but it is surprisingly an amazing collaboration. Someone gave the CD to me as a gift. I put it on and started cleaning the house, listening with half an ear. And somewhere on the album, I don't remember exactly where, I simply sat down and listened. And I didn't get up again for a while. It's like that. It stills you. It quiets you. It forces you to be aware.
Gone, Gone, Gone is my favorite song on the album, by the way. It's the song you'll play over and over in the car until you've reached your destination. And then, when you get to where you were going, you'll click it back again so that when you get ... Read More:

This is one of the best, if not the best recorded concert out there. If you can find a SACD or LP copy if this, it is worth buying a record player or SACD player JUST FOR THIS. I'm not even kidding. However, the CD is still awesome. Just make sure if you upload it to your computer, do it lossless. This was recorded using the best mics out there with the audience recored also. Because of this, you hear some crowd noise with an absolutely "you are there" feeling. It's hard to explain, but there is a lot of air in this recording. It's like they recorded the whole atmosphere of the concert hall. I can't recommend this enough.

Alison's perfect and soft voice is exceptional! My favorite song on this album is "When You Say Nothing at All" so there was no hesitation in chosing this song for our wedding. As I walked down the aisle to start our beautiful poolside country wedding, Alison's perfect voice (in surroundsound) floated across the wedding guests, into lush green pasture and seemed to impact even the horses (or maybe the horses were just looking for their dinner). When I reached the rose-adorned wedding arch, I turned to see just about everyone with tears running down their cheeks - Alison's performance of this song really brought out the emotion in everyone. Even the big ol' cowboys were doing their best to choke back their emotions. Followed the perfect ceremony with ... Read More:

Alison Krauss is a beautiful singer and I love when her and Union Station get together and make another unforgettable album - such as this one.
I love this album so much because I feel that a lot of these songs tell about her life and my favorite song is Wouldn't Be So Bad - though all of the songs on this album are amazing! Anyway, do not listen to the bad reviews - buy this and you'll thank me! This to me is just another wonderful Alison-packed adventure and you will love it!!!!!!!! This is worth the money!!!! GOOD JOB, ALISON! AND YOU TOO, UNION STATION!!!
Release Date August 14, 2001
Alison Krause and Union Station continue to amaze with their committment to excellent musicianship while preserving and maintaining the integrity of our country's musical roots. Alison's ability to articulate the pain of lost love without succumbing to it is unparalleled by any American artist. She has a unique and original voice and is an accomplished fiddler. Her unassuming and humble stage presence speaks to her understanding that it's all about the music, not the musicians. What a fine assemblage of talent.

My nephew mentioned his desire to hear some classical music (Yo-Yo Ma, especially) on the boring trips back & forth from college. He really seemed to enjoy receiving the CD for Christmas!
Release Date December 16, 2003
While you may not love every track, you will, if you are a music lover, appreciate The Scarlet Tide and You Will Be My Ain True Love. Gorgeous melodies and poignant lyrics there. And beware; the score will take you right back to Cold Mountain, conjuring up images and whatever it was you experienced at the fate of Inman.
Release Date February 08, 2000
I bought this b/c I liked the 1st one so well.
I will say I do like the 1st one better, but this is good too. Some of the songs are very sentimental and are a great tribute to the feelings that a parent has for thier kids.
All in all I would buy it again.
