This album and Earl Hooker's "The Moon Is Rising" are two of the greatest electric Blues albums of all-time. There is not a bad song on this disc. Albert King also displays great versatility; "Born Under A Bad Sign" sounds nothing like "The Very Thought Of You", perhaps an odd song choice for Albert, but very well-handled. This is one of the albums that the late Stevie Ray Vaughan most admired. He was heavily influenced by Albert's playing on this record, as were scores of other Blues guitarists and Blues-Rock performers.

As a huge chicago blues fan, and a even greater SRV fan, you truely get the best of both worlds. With the hundreds of blues cd, that I own, spanning from leadbelly to keb'mo, this cd holds a special place in my heart. This cd comes out just as SRV'S texas flood is released, and the rest they say is HISTORY. Every track on this cd ROCKS!!! A must for any true blues fan, and in my opinion, One of the top 5 cd for people new to the blues to start with. You will not be dissapointed, you will become an instant lover of the blues!

If you like blues you probably already know about Albert King. If you don't then sit back and listen to a few tracks. You'll love it.

Whilst trying to locate some info on the unique Gibson Flying "V" i was stunned (but not entirely surprised)to learn that the "King" of the "Flying V" is reputed to be Michael Schenker!!
Who the hell is Michael Schenker in comparison to this most influential 6 ' 4" giant of guitar? Has Schenker influenced more people than Albert King?
Nobody looks as good with a Flying V as Albert nor is noted worldwide for the distinctive tone connected to the guitar.
On this compilation we have possibly some of the finest tracks culled over Alberts career.(the best parts of his career).
"Personal Manager" contains one of the wildest solos ever done on a slow blues. It creeps up you and towards the end Albert runs out of frets and yells in ... Read More:

I'll keep this review brief. This CD is nothing less than a Blues guitar statement. One like few others! An absolute must for Blues fans, period! Five stars are not enough for this CD!
Release Date October 25, 1990
I feel like Arnold Horshak when this disc comes up. For me this is the definitive Albert King. I'll Play The Blues For You, Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody's Home, Laundromat Blues, and Don't Burn Down The Bridge. Albert excels here. Makes me Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody's Home. That's because 'Girl, I just want to know you.'

The legendary Albert King's first Stax release was the groundbreaking, earth shaking Born Under a Bad Sign, a collection of singles named for the song keyboardist Booker T. Jones and singer William Bell wrote with Big Albert in mind.
Stax sent the new King of the Blues in the studio in 1969 to record this, his first official studio album. "Wrapped Up In Love Again" sets the album off. An even better, tighter version of the song was released as a single. This type of Soul/Blues with its rockin' tempo is something nobody has ever done better than Albert King. On the other side of the coin is the album's closer "The Sky Is Cryin'". Stevie Ray Vaughn's version of the Elmore James staple is pure Albert, but of course Vaughn never had ... Read More:

This album, IN SESSION by Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan, is a very interesting listen for any serious fans of Stevie Ray, or any fans of the blues.
Because Stevie Ray Vaughan's playing style was greatly influenced by the less famous Albert King, at times it is hard to distinguish exactly who is playing lead guitar, but that just goes to show how great most of the music is on this CD.
The singing is overwhelmingly Albert King, since Stevie only sings lead vocals on the lone Stevie Ray song on this CD, "Pride and Joy," but I really like the singing of Albert King, and this album is a great introduction to Albert King's work, to me, since all the other songs are from Albert King's repertoire.

STEVE CROPPER, ALBERT KING, AND POP STAPLES WERE ALL ARTISTS WHO RECORDED ON THE STAX LABEL FROM MEMPHIS IN THE 1970'S, THIS ALBUM IS A PRETTY LOOSE JAM OF ALL THREE GREAT GUITAR PLAYERS PLAYING TOGETHER. MY FAVORITE CUT IS "BIG BIRD". GREAT R&B AND SOULD GROOVES.
Release Date August 31, 1993
I've considered Albert King the finest electric blues guitar player ever for thirty-five years now. The Matchbox Blues from Montruex has his finest break ever captured by a recording. This break is worth many multiples times the price of the CD and is a must-study for anyone who plays electric guitar. I cannot create words forceful enough to convey my love of this break.
