I have Go and Go Live on vinyl. Many years ago a good friend and Stevie Winwood fanatic turned me on to this album. To me it's like the "Lost Pink Floyd" album. Like the sequel to "Dark Side of the Moon." It's every bit as spacey and every bit as well composed and well played (Maybe even better).
I have yet to pick up the complete Go Sessions, but will as soon as the budget allows. I just listened to the LP's the other night after not hearing them in years. They hold up well. This is a "band" I'd love to see reunite and tour!

The music on this record would be great on the any format but with the clarity and dynamic range of the SACD you can really appreciate the virtuosity of these three players.

Friday Night in San Francisco

Any one of these guitarists will stun you with their technique. Al Dimeola, John McLaughlin, and Paco de Lucia are outstanding musicians who have produced some really good work individually. Put them all together under one roof for a night of jamming and you have one great concert recording.

Each of the players here has a unique style, so there's no real sense of things running together. Dimeola is a straight-charger with intense staccato flurries that defy transcription. McLaughlin employs both picked and legato runs, along with a great sense of timing. De Lucia's Spanish flamenco style is smooth and elegant. Elegant Gypsy

This is probably one of the best albums of all time. it showcases Dimeola's brilliant guitar techniques, his speed and versatility. The musicians who accompany him are monsters and can keep up with Dimeola's complex music (they're the best around).Unbelievable chemistry among those guys. The transition from track to track is so smooth, not to mention the clear recording. The opening track "flight over Rio", and "race with the devil" are mind blowing. I have been listening to this for 30 years and still enjoy it. This is a must for guitar freaks and fusion lovers.

Jazzpaña

The liner notes to this CD promise great things to those who listen to Jazzpana with an open mind. Well, musically my mind is very open yet repeated listening failed to convince me that this supposed marriage of American jazz to Andalucian cante hondo is anything but a shaky one. The CD has its moments and its merits, its just not something either the average jazz fan or the average flamenco fan could stand to listen to on a regular basis.
Though this originally was released in 1992, I had never heard of it until the other day when I saw it listed here under Al DiMeola. It is cheap and there are other musicians on it like Los Jovenes Flamencos I enjoy, so I took a chance on it. Well, the verdict is that it is a CD you really have to be in the mood for.

I couldn't believe it when I read these other reviews before me. I was eighteen years old when I first heard this album in 1977 and it blew me away then as it still does today. Al Dimeola is a master guitarist and it just amazes me how someone with such virtuoso talent as he obviously has can be criticized by these two bit miserable excuses for belly-aching, complaining, sh-t for brains amateurs like yourselves. It doesn't take someone schooled in musical theory to recognize Mr. Dimeola as the wondrous musician that he is. Go back to your Yes, Deep Purple or whatever the hell else you listen to (probably Kiss too, I suspect) and please don't darken these pages with your second rate complaints.

Well what all else can be said that has not already been said about Al Dimeola? The man is hands down the greatest Guitarist to ever live and he is a 1,000 times better than Jimmi Hendrix. So the next time you hear that Hendrix is the greatest guitarist of all time, they either do not know what they are talking about or are lying to you. Speaking of which in my personal opinion people were too messed up on drugs back then and that is my theory of why Hendrix and The Grateful Dead are so overrated to name a few. Until proven otherwise Al Dimeola is the most devastating guitarist in the whole world. No one is better. NO ONE!
