Since this 1993 concert recording is only now being released in the US & Canada, there must have been copyright/contract problems for one or more of the artists involved. To mark the disparity in length of career, singers Te Kanawa, Domingo, Hvorostovsky & others are still performing (infrequently for the semi-retired Te Kanawa), while the Royal Ballet dancers featured have either retired and/or gone on to teaching (except for Leanne Benjamin, still a principal with the company). Darcey Bussell, Lesley Collier & Viviana Durante, the prima ballerinas when this was recorded, have been replaced by Alina Cojocaru, Marianela Nunez, Tamara Rojo and Miyako Yoshida.

This young lady has a beautiful voice. I have the Celtic Women DVD's so I am very familiar with her work.
The dvd was ok, but I didn't think it was dubbed awfully well,it was obviously a dvd that was made and the sound added afterwards and this was quite obvious.
The scenery (the video was filmed in ireland) was absolutely beautiul, I think a little more thought could have gone into where quite a lot of it was filmed ( In a churchyard) but on the whole it was a lovely dvd to watch and her singing was as always lovely.
She is a beautiul young lady with a voice of an angel and may her career sweep leaps and bounds.

Esta es una muy buena selección de grabaciones del pasado. Lamentablemente hay piezas que no están completas (como la 9na. Sinfonía de Beethoven, dirigida por Otto Klemperer en 1964), o el Concierto para Violín y Orquesta de Brahms (Oistrakh)pero hay otras que sí, como el Romance en Fa mayor (Op. 50) de Beethoven (Menuhin).
Los amantes de la música clásica deben tener este DVD, cuyo título: Grandes Grabaciones del Siglo, es más que adecuado. Que el sonido sea monofónico no opaca el inmenso brillo de estas magistrales interpretaciones.

This appears to be very hastily put together and, in my opinion, a waste of money.

Greatly enjoyed this DVD. However, no credit was given to the two sopranos. Their names were completely ommited. Especially, Virginia Alonso was wonderful in El Gato Montes.
