BEWARE SPOILERS!! (and pompous displays of semi-relevant erudition)
Director Mike Nichols is a past master of women's point of view films that go beyond the narrow confines of the "chick flick." Silkwood (1983); Heartburn (1986); Working Girl (1988); and the very fine Postcards from the Edge (1990) come to mind. His first feature was an adaptation of Edward Albee's play Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf with Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor back in 1966. He followed the next year with the generation-defining The Graduate with Dustin Hoffman. His films feature fine satire played along the cutting edge of the popular culture.
Here he deviates slightly to celebrate Texas congressman Charlie Wilson who managed to persuade ... Read More:

If you are an adult Mormon in America, you will relate to ANGELS IN AMERICA. Tony Kushner has absorbed and filtered back more Mormon concepts and theology within the 6-hour boundaries of this film than any other Jewish American playwright. He is to be commended for the effort. He has done his homework. His personal interpretations of God (and/or the lack thereof) are not mine, nor need they be yours. But as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the past 50 years, I pronounce this film to be "virtuous, lovely and of good report". Do not get bogged down with the sex or language. See them for what they are: incidentals. Focus instead on the human (and spiritual) interaction in the face of AIDS, and by extension all disease. For fans of old Hollywood, you'll love this movie!
Burton and Taylor are just about at their best here.
The constant jab and poke that these two go for is amazing, both looking the vocabular knock out punch!
It remans one of my all time fav movies to watch.
I encourage everyone who has the slightest interest in how
great the old studios made movies to watch this film!

There are no words that can express my feelings about this film, but having said that, this is one of the - maybe THE most moving films I have ever seen and definitely one of the most magnificent performances I have ever seen, Emma Thompson's. The spareness, the pace - both of which some other reviewers have commented on - seem to reflect, paradoxically, the experience of what is being faced - and as the character, Professor Bearing, comes to say: simplicity. Yet the story and the experience are anything but 'simplicity'. Profound, deeply thought provoking, comforting, rich, eloquent - and yet there are no words, as she also says at one point, even though words have meant so much to her. The comma in John Donne's poem - I think the lines that reflect on that are some of the ... Read More:

This was one of the most boring movies I ever saw! It makes the word love truly just a "four letter word".
I even brought it to work and let my coworkers borrow it to get their opinion. Only one out of six said it was worth watching. I gave the movie to them!
Release Date September 09, 2003
I liked this movie as much now as I did when I originally watched it. I purchased it to watch with my daughter and she too enjoyed it. I think that Harrison Ford did an excellent job.
