I have a feeling Sean Penn and I wouldn't be "best buds". But I loved this movie.
Almost every scene is suitable for framing. I can't recall the last time I saw such cinematography. The movie's appeal is on so many levels for me. It probably will appeal to you on other levels as well.
My surprise hero? Vince Vaughn. This guy can do more with three sentences than most actors with a script. It's a shame we see him mostly in comedies or quirky roles.
The lasting memories I carry with me about this movie are that if you decide to go down "the road less traveled" there's a real chance that you won't be coming back.
Don't waste your time renting this movie. Buy it, you'll want to see it many times. ... Read More:

...I watched it a second time. And a third time. And I continue to watch it, and it seemingly becomes funnier each time.
It's easy to find fault with "Old School": Will Ferrel's character doesn't have a job, as far as I can tell. Mitch-a-pa-looza, a giant house party for Luke Wilson, occurs on a Friday night...yet both Luke Wilson and his high school hook-up are at work and school the next day as if it's a weekday. The homages to "Fight Club" border on rip-offs. And the list goes on.
However, it doesn't matter. Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughan, and Will Ferrel are a comedic dream team. The laughs never stop, so the plot inconsistencies and lack of originality will never really bother you (unless you let them). Check your brain at ... Read More:

I love love love this movie so I bought the "unrated" disc as I thought it would give me some interesting insight into the actors and the film, etc. I was so sadly disappointed! If you put the director's commentary on as your watching the film, you will literally fall asleep, he is so incredibly boring. I thought directors are great storytellers, but man, is he a drip! I could not sit through it!! Doesn't anybody look at this stuff before it's sold to the masses?!? So I turned the commentary off and watched the same dvd I could've rented from netflix. Not fair for 20 bucks!

2005's Wedding Crashers is a 'so-wrong-it's-funny' film starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.
Two best friends since childhood who enjoy in the same hobby of, well.... crashing weddings of course!
I can't say much for the morality of the film, but Vince Vaughn delivers his usual witty banter and Owen Wilson holds his own as well. Not to mention Will Ferrell's short appearance as Chaz, the boys' wedding crasher mentor.
"Guys, the real enemy here, is the institution of marriage, it unrealistic, it's crazy!"

I was happy with this purchase. It came as promised (new & packaged as such) and much sooner than I expected. It was a gift, so I have not actually viewed the product.

Trent Walker (Vince Vaughn), Sue (Patrick Van Horn), Rob (Ron Livingston), Charles (Alex Désert), and Mike Peters (Jon Favreau) are all struggling actors. Their social scene and lifestyle is totally retro, based on the days when Frank, Sammy, and Dean ruled Vegas. They have their own style of dress, lingo, and attitude--but all recycled from the days of Frank, Sammy, and Dean-O. Their scene, The Cocktail Nation, flourished for a while in the mid 90's. The script was written by Jon Favreau, who plays Mikey, and it was based on their own struggles in Hollywood. Some of Vince Vaughn's best lines were things he said verbatim in real life that were transcribed by Jon Favreau, who wrote the script. Like, there is a great scene where Trent Walker regales some Vegas waitresses with ... Read More:

How hard is it to write a watchable film with Vince Vaughn, Paul Giamatti and Kevin Spacey? Apparently VERY difficult for the writers here.
I still have no idea how Santa is younger and looks 20 years older than Vince (who plays the BIG brother). I must have missed that part of the story but in reality, it really didn't matter. Many scenes seemed out of place and contrived; the kind of "funny notion" scenes that are drug out WAY too far to where any sense of comedy is lost.
The director/producer tried to go "tear jerker" at the end, which would have been suitable if ANYTHING leading up that point had been worth following.
Ugh, major disappointment. I can see how some people might enjoy this OK, since many people will take any garbage they're ... Read More:
