Seriously, I don't get the rave reviews for this movie. People I know are ranting about it as if actually came within a mile of such love classics as "Titanic", "Pearl Harbor", and "A Walk in the Clouds". Trust me, it doesn't; this film doesn't set a toe on the royal grounds of films like that. And what beats me is, why? This movie has an excellent story, is based on a breathtakingly moving book, and stuck almost entirely to the book; what went wrong??
Maybe it's the characterizations. Let's start with romantic hero (or maybe fanatic) Noah. The initial meeting between them, so gently lovely in the book, is nothing even close in the movie. Instead of a mutual attraction like the one in the book, we have heroine Ally on a date with ... Read More:

Gettysburg is a stunning film with strong characterization, amazing action and enthralling epic atmosphere. Jeff Daniels does his best film work ever as the Colonel from Maine who does a desperate bayonet charge to stop the Confederate onslaught. That single event held the line. The other actors are stellar, including Tom Berenger, Sam Elliott, and Martin Sheen as Robert E. Lee. I especially liked Richard Jordan (Confederate general Lewis A. Armistead) whose dearest friend was in the Union Army. The heartbreak that Jordan conveys in wanting to see his friend, separated by this war is so palpable that it's just heart renching.
This film is a Must See for anyone interested in America and American History.

This film/movie is absolutely awful, dreadfully violent, pretty disgusting, and likely to be nightmare-inducing, but it is totally riveting, nonetheless - I give it five stars, but I don't recommend watching it and won't do so myself again!

In today's Hollywood climate, there are very few movies that appeal to an entire family. Children want to see Hannah Montana, teens want Harry Potter and superheroes, while adults want very R-rated drama. Thus, it is refreshing to see a movie that can be classified as a solid family film, which Father of the Bride very much is.
While comedic in nature (how could it not be starring Steve Martin?!), this film is also a touching commentary on how families change (for better or worse) when marriages occur. Its blend of hilarious comedy and touching emotions will have you holding your sides one minute and reaching for the Kleenex box the next.
The real brilliance of this film, however, comes from the terrific acting. Martin's knack ... Read More:

This Movie is a funny Stoner movie ( no I'm not a Stoner got no money if I wanted to smoke )Kumar seems to remember that there is a White Castle near where they live in New Jersey. There is not. If there were, it's questionable whether they could find it, as they careen through the night on a journey that makes the travels of Cheech and Chong look like outings in the Popemobile.

These Movies were amazing and there even better as a double feature. if you a civil war buff like me then these two are for you!!
Release Date July 15, 2003
First, let me say that I've read every novel ever written by Jeff Shaara and have loved every one. Having said that, I think this is one of the worst Civil War movies I've ever seen. It was dull, over-acted, and the screenplay was horrible -- filled with flowery speaches, no real character development, no real-life conversations. I can understand why all these "South will rise again" folks like it -- it's pro-confederacy, hardly mentions the word "slavery", and makes it look like all the southern slaves just loved their "masters". That's OK though, as all films are made with some bias. It's mostly just a rotten script.

Loved it. My family is from Alaska and I bought them all a copy, because it pulls "real" Alaskan attributes into the movie. Entertaining for adults and educational for children without them even knowing it. WOW!
Release Date July 17, 2007
You have to admit, it's a great premise. What would America look like and do if war was conducted on our own soil instead of across an ocean? But instead of going the conventional way of showing you anything and everything about it, director John Milius decided to give this depressing scenario a view from a bunch of high school kids. We don't even know the full extent of the attack until the middle of the movie. Interesting concept sure, but what looks good on paper almost never works when fully attempted.
First off, with the exception of a young Charlie Sheen, the acting is bad... as in pathetic. Patrick Swayze is a guy you wouldn't expect this from, but he's one of the worst offenders. Then there's the plausibility of the Wolverine story. Sure, it's possible that a ... Read More:

This movie was watchable, but I was hoping for a little more than it gave. There was a lot of potential but I believe some the points it was trying to make were a little vague. I was a little disappointed.
