OK. So Michael isn't a public favorite these days. But this disc sure chronicles his best work--ahh, for those younger days! Thriller is my all time favorite music vid.

Much like the book, this movie gives you a glimps into the life of Mark "Chopper" Read. I just happened across this moves years & years ago. It was weird then & it's still weird now. It's about this Aussie who went around killing/Beating drug dealers & other bullies, because he thought he was supposed to. This film is also a chance to see Eric Bana before he came to the U.S. & made it big in films like "Black Hawk Down", "Hulk", "Troy", & "the Other Boleyn Girl". It's a good black comedy that will leave you wanting more. I even purchased the first of his books after seeing this. Now that was an interesting read.

I love this film. This is film-making at its American Classic best. There is so much depth to this film. And the subtleties are amazing. I've seen it more than once and it really does have a lot of layers. Maybe, as a previous review indicated, it seems slow-paced compared to the movies we're accustomed to seeing now. However, if you watch closely there are a lot of things that are revealed but not underscored in a heavy-handed fashion. Joanna insists her husband finish doing the dishes as she does other kitchen chores. Joanna is asked if she's ever made it in front of a fireplace by her husband and she replies "Not with you." Joanna was a strong and opinionated woman, and that obviously grated on her weak-willed husband. The reasons he loved her ... Read More:

Ahh..., I don't know why this movie was ever made. It perpetuates the whole stereotype of "The Man," yet offers no solution or remedy. I applaude Mr. Melvin Van Peebles right to free speech and expression, but that's about it.

I was really dissapointed with this film. I am crazy for any adaptation of a British Lit Classic, and have a very large collection of those types of movies. Very rarely do I find one that I just don't like. This one is that rare film. I tried to watch it twice, and I just cannot get into it. The music is so dull and repetitive that it could put you to sleep. It's like who ever wrote the score completed two minutes worth then gave up and just decided to replay it over and over again because they were already bored of it. It is really annoying. Furthermore the acting is nothing to write home about, either very stiff or complete overkill. I don't even think the costumes are that good, which is pretty surprising. I do not know the novel, so I am not sure how the characters are ... Read More:

A 9/11 program to try to heal a nation. Maybe if you watch it today, you'll regain the feelings we all felt when we saw the twin towers fall?
Release Date March 02, 2002
This is one of the best horror flicks done in along time.
Wes Craven finishes "A Nightmare on Elm Street" series and
with a fresh new idea comes out with "WISH MASTER".
I would say with no doubt "WISHMASTER" & "WISHMASTER 2" are
the best flicks I've seen from WES CRAVEN.
I haven't seen PART 3 & 4, but I'm going too.
I rate these movies a 9 from 1to10!!

I love Joseph Conrad but the films never seem to work. "The Duellists" was too thin, "The Secret Agent" terrible. "Lord Jim"s the best of a bad bunch so far.
This doesn't up the score much, but it's an honest try. The locations are good and it has the feel of the time and place. Casting is arse over face, with pudgy Sam Neill as the novel's skeletal Mr Jones (hammy, mannered, ineffective) and Willem Dafoe as the novel's pudgy Heyst (very good indeed). Irene Jacob's a blank sheet, but at least she's better here than in "U.S. Marshalls." Best of the bunch is Rufus Sewell, who has Jones' 'private secretary' to perfection, and he's an actor I've no time for in anything else.
Biggest drawback is the narration. Bill Patterson may be great, but he barely keeps his trap shut ... Read More:

In 1998 two programs were produced at the time of the AFI's 100 "best" movies list. A three-hour program that aired on CBS is more anecdotal and star-studded. The item for sale here is the ten-part series that aired originally on TNT. That series broke the list down into themes, such as "The Anti-heroes," "Love Crazy," and "In Search Of..." The series was a more serious, scholarly look at the movies and is a good collection for film buffs who want an informative treatise on each film--with plenty of clips,--or the beginning film student who's pressed for time to learn the key facts and see the key scenes of a lot of movies. It's a very thoughtful overview and inspires one to see the actual films, but it can be compared to "reading" the great works of literature by picking up the Cliffs Notes. That ... Read More:

I bought and watched Blackrock. I came away from the movie as sense of change in the male image, identity and purpose. In addition to, the young girls that were effected by this tragedy, stood up and made their rage known and were not going to let what happened slip by under the covers of male privilage. By no means does this make an excuse for the individual that kept quiet. I did not have the background to the movie and never realized that the horrible rape and murder of the young girl actually happened in real life. This movie is true to life around the world in that people do not value women but perhaps there is an hope for change. Movies that are based on real life do change people's hearts and minds and no doubt that this movie is one of them. I know I walked away with a new preception and I am grateful to ... Read More:
