"The Man Who Would Be King" is on the short list of my favorite films. John Huston's love & dedication to this project really shines through (he had to wait 25-30 years to make it & then almost died making it)in his script & direction. Caine & Connery ARE Peachy & Danny (I'm sorry--I can't see Bogart & Gable) in what I see as career high performances. Some eight years ago this was one of the very first DVDs I ever purchased. After viewing it numerous times since then, I have just watched it for the first times on a 42" widescreen lcd tv. I have to say that I was surprised at how good the image was for such an old release--the DVD was released in 1997--however there is room for considerable improvement in the package. First ... Great service from the seller! DVD and packaging in excellent shape. And, the content was much better than I expected. I bought this for the Pink Floyd reunion and got that and so much more. The quality of the DVD is amazing and the backstage footage is fun - it would be nice to have had more of that, though. It's a phenomonal collection and I'm really glad I purchased it. One of the best imports of Columbia, most of the music here comes from her first English language hit, Dirty Laundry. Great video of puppets looking somwhat like Saddam Hussin and George W. Bush. There's also a great extra of Shakira somewhat interviewing herself and footage of her succesful tour. A cd accompanies the dvd but doesn't have all the songs the dvd has. Still, a lot of fun especially if you're a fan.

Movie started out cheesy with jewish writer trying to get "real" by living in slums and getting close to black culture. Other than the poorly acted writer role, the rest of the movie is similar to what happens in ghettos all over America. Very good, if you are interested in social work, psychology. Dont bother to scare your kids with this one; in fact, it would probably encourage them.
