"A Knight's Tale" was delightful to me when I saw it in the theatre. I recently started thinking about how much I liked it and then saw a copy @ a bargain price. Heath Ledger never seems light, even when in a frothy bit of romantic comedy from the middle ages. There is a fierce intensity to his work. His one Oscar nomination came for Best Actor for "Brokeback Mountain" in 2005, a film for which he won similar awards from critics' associations in Las Vegas, New York, Phoenix, San Francisco & St. Louis. As William Thatcher, he is a joy to watch as the servant who dreamed he could become a knight.

Hi,
I am a long time Cure fan since Pornography came out. I must admit I am a musician that plays dark rock. I understood why Robert Smith needed a break from the Gothic style but this record only reflects the most upbeat shallow and less interesting of all the songs they wrote. Love Song and Inbetween Days are the only ones that ever got air play on this CD in LA, where I was living playing with my band. I was so dissapointed when I bought this CD. I hope they make another one that includes songs from Pornography, The Top, Faith and the dark music that made their name. I do not believe Smith is a sell out, he just decided to move in different musical directions and in my opinion they all just did not work. If you like the shallow dance songs of The Cure ... It stars Ray Winstone in the title role; was written by Joshua St. Johnston and directed by David Moore. As a director's cut, it includes footage not seen in the broadcast - beware, sensitive souls, it's intensely violent. It also boasts a Sweeney Todd background essay, cast filmographies, and, thank goodness, unadvertised closed captioning: characters in this movie are doing their best to speak early London English. The movie is set in eighteenth century London, where the first, Victorian treatment of this famous horror tale placed it; it runs about an hour and a half.

I discovered Mike Leigh through SECRETS AND LIES, which prompted me to watch VERA DRAKE, which has led me to order all three MIKE LEIGH COLLECTIONS. Thus far I am very pleased.

Mike Leigh has observative powers which are rare in anyone. He can take something apart, put it back together, make you see it in a new way, and perhaps not even let you know what he's done until two hours after the movie's over. You get so wrapped up in his oh-so-real characterizations and organically unfolding plots that you forget. You and your partner are still talking about it after it's over.
