I am giving this movie 5 stars, because the 1988 Turner version is one of the greatest movies ever made. This is disc 2. The new re-recut version has some new merits, but overall isn't as good as the Turner version. The problem with this disc, which is huge, is that there is a flaw on the transfer. During the last few minutes, the sound is totally whacked. The Dylan song used just before, and during the end credits is all askew and warped. I bought this disc and noticed it. Then I rented it and the same problem was there. I don't know when, or if, this problem will ever be addressed or fixed. And I can't seem to find anyone else who mentions it in posts. I am not happy with this record. I had hoped that there would be some beautiful music (I love Rita Coolidge's voice) with unusual rhythyms like the stuff I have heard from Robbie Robertson. The voices here are excellent, but most of the selections sound like gospel music. I bought a concert CD because I thought it would give me a broad selection of Walela's music. If they are 90+% gospel-like tunes, their CDs won't contain enough of the stuff I want to hear for me to buy them. However, if you like gospel-style music, my three stars would become your five.

I am a fan of the actor Ian Somerhalder, so that is the main reason I purchased this DVD. I went into my viewing experience with average expectations, and I was surprised by the quality of the acting across the board, the humor, and the emotional depth of the story. And more than just a captivating story, it carries a message about the value of every moment in life. The cinematic quality of the film is not outstanding--it is on par with the technical quality of many "made-for-TV" films. However, its message struck me deeply and left an impact on me--and in my mind, that is the highest goal of all art! I highly recommend this film.

I have NO LOVE for (Drill Sgt) Leon Russell, but I could dig seeing a young Joe Cocker. But the REAL reason I'm inquiring about MD&E is, well, about the Ladies: A) HOW prominently featured is one the most beautiful women of all time, Claudia Linnear? and secondly B) I know that Fanny's Nicky Barclay is a vocalist on this, too. I have never...quite...gotten...over seeing and doing a show with Fanny in 12/71, so is Nicky featured at all on this? PLEASE?
