A bunch of thieves steal a lot of gold but they get double-crossed and the rest of the movie is the double-crossed thieves working hard at double-crossing the 'bad' thief guy with help from the not-a-thief daughter of the daddy-thief (a good guy) who got wasted during the violent phase of the initial double-crossing. This is good because the daughter is Charlize Theron and she's always a pretty woman.
Why would those who stole a ton of gold be 'good' but the guy who betrayed them was 'bad'... I'm not so sure I understand but... whatever. There are maybe a couple more plot twists but I'm not going to spoil anyone the pleasure.
The main attraction is the Mini race - the Mini is a British-made car that's small but spunky ... Read More:

mos def did a great job in this film. this is one of my favorite movies because it shows how one black man rose above the odds to do something with his life and follow his dreams. although it took years for him to receive credit he did in the end. great film.

The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy is one of those films that seems a lot better if one has not read the source material it's based upon- in this case the series of Hitchhiker books by Douglas Adams, the BBC radio shows, or the 1970s BBC television series of the same name. This was manifest immediately to me, as one who'd seen the repeats of the tv show on PBS, but never read the books. In just briefly skimming the online critical consensus this seems confirmed, for rarely does a film elicit such widely divergent reactions. Those critics who came to this film fresh invariably thought it was very good, while those with prior Hitchhiker bonafides thought this new version, by first time director Garth Jennings, who made his name in music videos, was horrible. ... the trailer makes this movie look like a jake black free for all comedy. i am not a big fan of j. black but i was looking for a stupid movie to enjoy while a little drunk. i really enjoy mos def's character in 16 blocks so i was happy to see him in something different. my problem with this movie is that its actually a warm felt movie with a different plot and very moving performances. it was a good movie just different from what the trailer looks like

Enjoyment of this film doesn't hinge on how much you dig hip hop music or how deep or how far back your history with hip hop goes. 2002's BROWN SUGAR works just fine as a romantic film, and it's cool if you relish it solely for that. But if you love hip hop or even if you just have a nodding acquaintance with it, then you'll get so much more from the movie. Me, I grew up in the '80s, listening to what's referred to nowadays as old school hip hop. So I can definitely get with the opening sequence, which features real-life hip hop luminaries being interviewed and divulging their musical inspirations. I've been listening to these cats from the get-go (Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, De La Soul, etc.), and to set eyes on them in this flick, well, it's a very cool thing... I just wish Erik ... I absolutely LOVE this movie. Great story, directing and all-star cast. S. Epatha Merkerson was remarkable and needs more roles she can sink her teeth into. She makes it look so natural. Love her.

Angry, uneven, brilliant. . . This is not destined to be remembered as a great motion picture, but it sure is powerful. How do you even write about it? Spike Lee shoves everyone around, overturns tables, and leaves you to think about it all.
Pierre Delacroix (Damon Wayans) is a "negro" TV writer who is black enough to be upset about lack of representation of people of color in his business, but "white" enought to not understand fully the ramifications of what he does. His boss, Mr. Dunwitty (Michael Rappaport) is a white guy who thinks he's tuned into the black experience. Pierre decides, in protest, to revive an old time blackface minstrel show for modern television thinking that by sabatoging the TV programming he'll prove a point. The station goes for the idea. Pierre's conscience, personified by ... Read More:
