I was gifted this movie and my first thought was, "What the hell is a Slevin?", but thanks to its clever dialogue, tongue-in-cheek humor, and excellent actors, Slevin quickly made it onto my short-list of favorite films.

This is a film that savors contrast, both in visual as well as narrative terms. Almost everything, from the wallpaper and floor tiles, to chessboards, and especially the central characters, suggests duality, light and dark, good and evil. The film itself goes from clever comedy to brutal revenge tale in the space of a single scene.

Be aware that Amazon doesn't seem to be selling this collection as a "fold-out" version of the "Adventure Pack" packaging (not anymore, anyway): The 3 pics of the original collection and packaging posted at the top of the page are from a customer, not Amazon.

The package consists of:
1) A printed hard paper DVD case sleeve that looks identical to the "foldout" container pictured, except that it obviously doesn't have "fold out" doors.

2) Inside the sleeve is a DVD holder that looks identical to the one in the customer pics.

Time-traveling, teleporting. I've been always kind of a sucker for these sci-fi premises. What would you do if you could teleport yourself to basically any place on the face of the earth? Steven Gould, in his novel Jumper, uses this premise and gives his characters the innate ability to instantly teleport themselves. It is definitely an interesting foundation, however, Director Doug Liman and screenwriters David S. Goyer, Jim Uhls and Simon Kinberg do little to exploit this promising idea, and come up with a movie that takes us through NYC, Rome, Egypt, Tokyo, but ends up going absolutely nowhere.

I am partial to Danny Kaye, he is one of my all-time favorite actors, but it's not just partiality talking, when I say that this is one of the best comedies ever made! I LOVE IT!!! Thankfully, I was raised watching old movies, and I am making sure that all of my friend's children are made to watch this one, because it starts them on the path to appreciating classic comedy; it's definately Danny Kaye at his best!

"East Bound and Down" is one of the great country songs, and this movie is the greatest road movie ever made, the redneck "Easy Rider," the AMERICAN "Easy Rider" (as Patton said, "Americans love a winner and will not tolerate a loser!"), filled with car chases and car wrecks, one babe, a beautifully ridiculous story, the great Jerry Reed at his weary but sarcastic redneck best, and Burt R.'s mustache at its cheesiest. It's the movie those two hippie goofs in "Easy Rider" might have made if they'd taken themselves less seriously. In "Smokey and the Bandit" one of the protagonists gets the babe, both get the cash and then let it ride on a double-or-nothing, and go on to greater adventures.
